Salomon Previews Fall - Winter 2022 “Blue Fire” Winter Sports Collection
Salomon’s winter sports team has proudly unveiled a new identity that will adorn its Fall/Winter 2022 Alpine and Nordic racing and competition products. The new design is featured on the brand’s top-performing skis, snowboards, boots, bindings, poles, helmets and goggles.
Expanding from the brand’s racing blue color, the new “Blue Fire” racing identity is comprised of three visual signatures. First, Salomon’s new racing flag is integrated into a new brand signature, which is intended to show a dedication to precision, focus and performance. Those two elements work with a gradient design that represents an explosion of energy and joy. The new font and logo featured on the products are a modern take on Salomon’s visual identity, recognizing the history of the French brand and teasing Salomon’s 75th anniversary, which will be celebrated in 2022.
The new look for Fall/Winter 2022 can already be seen in competition, as the products are being used by Salomon athletes on various World Cup tours.
“The design of the product range is intended to celebrate the common spirit of determination, dedication and passion that is shared by Salomon athletes and supporting teams across all winter sports, regardless of their disciplines and nationalities,” says David Farcot, Director of Design for Salomon Winter Sports. “Though Alpine skiers, Nordic skiers, freestyle skiers and snowboarders live in different sport cultures, they share the common traits of passion, modernity and decisiveness expressed in the new Blue Fire design.”
As French Alpine ski racing speed specialist Matthieu Bailet says, “The Salomon team is like a second family. We are united by our common values—the search for details in design, the improvement of results, and the strong human relationships that we share between all the members of the team.”
- S/RACE GS 12 ski is designed for high-powered runs on groomed slopes. It features Salomon’s innovative Blade technology, which fuses flexible polymer pads into the TI layer to help you bend the ski with less effort, so you can make turns without shaving off speed. The combination of Blade technology and edge-to-edge TI construction give the S/RACE GS12 the stiffness you need to glide, with the liveliness you want to turn. At 68 mm underfoot, it features an Ash wood core, race base, two sheets of Ti, and a full sandwich sidewalls construction that also make it a powerful GS ski to boost your racing performance. Also in action on the World Cup, look for the S/RACE SL 12 slalom ski and the S/RACE 140 WC boot.
- The Huck Knife Pro LTD is a high-performance freestyle snowboard designed to meet the needs of elite park riders on the world stage. This limited-edition true twin features a laundry list of technologies to reduce weight and boost performance. The resilient Ghost Green Core is paired with Damplifier Lite, a cork and honeycomb insert in the tip and tail, making the Huck Knife Pro LTD an ultra-light board with low swing weight. A stable, snappy, and responsive Quad Camber pairs with Salomon’s EQ Rad sidecut to provide a more agile and playful ride. A milled core and natural flex underfoot is enhanced with Ghost Carbon Beams in the tip and tail for explosive pop.
- Let Salomon treat you like a World Cup Nordic skier with the incredibly lightweight S/LAB skate ski, which is hand-picked and grinded by Salomon’s S/Lab Select Team, meaning these skis could be used on your feet or used to earn a spot on a World Cup podium. The ski features a G5 cold base and G1 grind combination that helps it excel in cold snow conditions on the racetrack. A redesigned THIN PLY carbon weaving construction keeps your stability and transmission up while also saving 20 percent material waste in the production of each ski. The S/LAB skate ski is available for Fall/Winter 2022 in three versions: Cold, Universal and Warm. The Universal version features a completely new base and grind which is up to five percent faster for perfect glide in a wider range of snow conditions.
- The new FIS-approved S/Race ski racing helmet recently received a safety upgrade with added Salomon's EPS4D safety technology to protect your head more efficiently from shock. The full shell is made of Kevlar and fiberglass, and it fits a complementary chin guard so you can bash gates feeling fully protected. Used by some of the best skiers in the world, it’s also designed for comfort. The World Cup liner has mesh ear pads, ensuring that you stay comfortable all day long.
- Designed for skiers and snowboarders who seek high-performing eye protection that is comfortable and stylish, the frameless Radium Pro Sigma Goggle was created in this special “race blue” color way for the Blue Fire Collection. The goggle features top-of-the-line ventilation and a color-amplifying SIGMA™ lens with Anti Fog + technology to prevent fogging. The frameless design offers great field of vision and the spherical SIGMA™ lens amplifies color contrast with minimal optical distortion. The foam lining thickness at the nose bridge has been revised for an Asian fit.
- Eager not to miss out on the new Blue Fire racing look, the Salomon footwear team has also unveiled the Speedcross 5 Racing Pack to celebrate momentous acts of team spirit, perseverance and victory in winter sports. It boasts an explosive and dynamic design that bridges the gap between Salomon’s ski racing heritage and trail running roots, with a vibrant, inspiring color gradient to energize and accompany any personal endeavor. From a performance standpoint, the Speedcross 5 offers enhanced grip, a more dynamic upper for improved foothold and more stability. The sole of the Speedcross 5 has larger, more aggressive lugs with more space between them and an updated geometry, delivering better push-off grip and braking grip in all surface conditions. The shoe’s appearance has returned to its original silhouette with a higher shape and big heel counter, while also highlighting the aggressive grip.
