Saalbach Is Ready For The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2025

That the slogan "We are Ready!" is not just an empty phrase for the Organising Committee of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup and the FIS Alpine World Ski Championship Saalbach 2025 candidacy was proven just two weeks ago, when the men’s downhill and super-G Ski World Cup races, which were schedule to take part in Yanqing (CHN) were taken over at short notice and staged on the World Cup course on the Zwölferkogel.

Taking over races at short notice has a certain tradition in Saalbach with the cancelled races from Sölden and Val d’Isere staged in December 2018. Also this winter, Saalbach Hinterglemm has put itself on the international map once again and proven its willingness to host major international events.

In the last round of bidding for the World Championships2023, Saalbach narrowly lost out to Courchevel-Méribel (FRA) but the Organising Committee is positive for its 2025 bid: "We enter the second era of bidding with optimism and vigour", Mayor Alois Hasenauer stated.

The existing concept ‘One mountain – all competitions‘ will not be changed. “All we are doing is tweaking the fine touches“, Hasenauer continued. “We stand by our concept, and if we were to be awarded the Championships, everyone can expect another showcase World Championship in Austria in 2025“, the Major stated.

The mountain on which the World Championships would be held in 2025 is "ready". Peter Mitterer, Managing Director of the Hinterglemm Lift Company stated: "Thanks to our reliable partner Doppelmayr, we already have the most modern lift system here and would be prepared for the World Championships. We don’t need to construct anything extra – we already have it all!“

The venue which is to host the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2025, will be decided at the 52nd FIS Congress in Thailand in May 2020.
