Revolution In Mottolino: Two New Lifts For The Olympic Games

Mottolino Fun Mountain is investing heavily in the future and is preparing for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina. With a budget of 30 million euros, two new lifts will be built in Livigno.

Why this investment?

  • Modernization: The existing systems are past their best and are being replaced by the latest technologies.
  • Sustainability: The new lifts are more energy efficient and protect the environment.
  • Comfort: Guests can look forward to faster rides, heated seats and an improved boarding system.
  • Capacity: The increased transport capacity reduces waiting times and ensures smoother operations.

In concrete terms, this means:

  • New Mottolino cable car: The popular but aging cable car is being replaced by a modern system with 10-seater cabins. The journey time is reduced from 9 to 5 minutes and 20 seconds.
  • New 8-seater chairlift Sponda: A new 8-seater chairlift with heated seats is being built in the heart of the ski area. It will increase capacity and contribute to smoother operation of the popular boardercross course.

The advantages at a glance:

  • Increased attractiveness: Livigno becomes even more attractive as a winter sports destination.
  • Future viability: The ski area is well prepared for the future.
  • Olympic requirements: The new facilities meet the highest international standards.
  • Positive impacts: The investments strengthen the local economy and create jobs.

Marco Rocca, Managing Director of Mottolino, emphasised: "The Olympic Games are a unique opportunity to bring our lifts up to date. With this investment, we are positioning ourselves as a leading winter sports resort and securing a successful future."

The new infrastructure will be beneficial not only during the Olympic Games, but also beyond, making Livigno an even more attractive destination for winter sports enthusiasts from all over the world.
