Regupol Wins German Design Award 2025 For Jungfrau Station

Europe's highest train station is located at up to 3,454 meters above sea level, in the terminus of the Jungfrau Railway and this station is equipped with, among other things, REGUPOL everroll alpine - the winter sports floor from REGUPOL in Bad Berleburg. If that's not spectacular enough for you: the project has now won the German Design Award, a nationally and internationally respected prize in the design sector.
Winter sports facilities are a challenge. Safety requirements are high, but comfort for athletes and visitors must still be ensured. And ideally, the design is also appealing. REGUPOL everroll alpine winter sports floors meet all three criteria. This is particularly impressive on the Jungfraujoch in Switzerland - or rather in the terminus of the Jungfrau Railway, the highest railway station in Europe. Or also: "Top of Europe".
In the shops and walkways, the floor scores points for its elasticity, which also protects the joints and reduces impact noise. The REGUPOL floor is also used in the in-house ski depot. The non-slip surface reduces the risk of accidents, even in wet areas. It is pleasantly warm underfoot, which means even more comfort for guests. This means they can comfortably walk across the floor barefoot or in ski socks.
All of this also convinced the jury of the German Design Award. The project in Switzerland won in the main category "Excellent Product Design". The jury's statement states: "The winter sports floors offer an innovative solution for the special requirements at high altitudes. They combine walking comfort and slip resistance with an appealing feel. The 'Top of Europe - REGUPOL winter sports floor in Europe's highest train station' impresses with its functionality and contributes to the safety and well-being of users."
The German Design Award sets international standards for innovative design developments and competitiveness on the global market. It shows what contribution design can make to the sustainable transformation of the economy.
3,454 meters above sea level, icy air, masses of snow and mountain peaks as far as the eye can see: the Jungfraujoch in Switzerland fascinates with its beauty and a feeling of freedom. Equally fascinating is the fact that the Jungfrau Railway goes all the way to the top - and not on a cable, but on rails. The final station is the highest railway station in Europe and is therefore also called the "Top of Europe". And that is exactly where REGUPOL everroll alpine winter sports floors were installed.
The project planners had precise ideas about the color concept. That's why REGUPOL everroll alpine mycreation was used - the customer presents his wishes and REGUPOL works with him to develop the right color combination. Five prototypes were produced before the decision was made.
A visual highlight is the floor design in the Top of Europe Shop: an airbrush artist sprayed rails onto the grey floor covering. The challenge was to find a compatible and durable colour.
The beige REGUPOL everroll alpine floor covering in the Lindt shop fits in with the color concept. It harmonizes well with the furniture and the dark wall design. The Lindt shop is located in the Grindelwald terminal, surrounded by other shops and the entrances to the cable cars. REGUPOL floor coverings are not just visually appealing. They are robust, sound-insulating and durable, as well as shock and impact resistant.
The Grindelwald terminal is the starting point of the V-Bahn. While the Männlichen cable car ends on the mountain of the same name, visitors do not necessarily have reached the end of their journey after riding on the ultra-modern Eiger Express. The Jungfrau Railway takes guests from the Eigergletscher station all the way to the top - to the Top of Europe. The entire project combines the latest technology, efficiency and comfort for visitors. The Eiger Express transports passengers in record time - up to 47 minutes faster than before - and is also well equipped. WiFi, heated seats and information screens are available in every gondola. In 2021, the Jungfrau Railways' V-Bahn project received the Swiss Mountain Award.
The REGUPOL everoll alpine winter sports flooring in shops and walkways is also comfortable. Its elasticity invites you to linger, protects your joints and reduces impact noise. The in-house ski depot was also equipped with REGUPOL. The non-slip surface of the flooring reduces the risk of slipping - even in wet areas. It is pleasantly warm underfoot, which means even more comfort for guests. They can walk comfortably across the floor barefoot or in ski socks. In total, over 6,000 square meters of REGUPOL everroll alpine winter sports flooring were supplied for this exceptional project.
