Red Lodge Mountain Progresses Multi-year, $2.25m Lift And Learning Area Upgrade.
Phase One of Red Lodge Mountain’s multiyear improvement plan will begin in the Summer of 2022 with the acquisition of a high-speed triple chair
purchased from Alta Ski Area in Utah.
Red Lodge is making progress on a major upgrade to its Miami Beach chairlift. The project, which is expected to be completed in time for the 2023-2024 ski season, will replace the current two-seater lift with a high-speed triple.
The new lift will be purchased from Alta Ski Area in Utah and will have a capacity of 1,500 skiers per hour. It will also be equipped with a heated seatback, making it more comfortable for skiers and snowboarders.
In addition to the new lift, Red Lodge Mountain is also making other improvements to the Miami Beach area. A new carpet conveyor lift will be installed to provide easier access to the beginner runs, and the yurt at the base area will be relocated to the upper Miami area.
The Miami Beach chairlift upgrade is part of a larger plan by Red Lodge Mountain to improve its beginner skiing and snowboarding experience. The resort is also planning to construct a new beginner terrain park and to add more snowmaking capacity to the lower mountain.
"We are excited to make these improvements to the Miami Beach area," said Spencer Weimar, assistant manager of Red Lodge Mountain. "We believe that these changes will make it easier for people to learn to ski and snowboard, and we are confident that they will help to attract more visitors to our resort."
The total cost of the Miami Beach chairlift upgrade is estimated to be $2.25 million. The project is being funded by a combination of private donations and resort revenue.
Red Lodge Mountain is a popular ski resort in the Rocky Mountains. The resort is located in the town of Red Lodge, Montana, which is about 50 miles south of Billings. Red Lodge Mountain has a vertical drop of 2,300 feet and offers 67 trails.
The Miami Beach chairlift is located on the lower portion of Red Lodge Mountain. The lift serves beginner and intermediate terrain. The new high-speed triple chairlift will be a major improvement for the Miami Beach area, and it is sure to make it a more popular destination for skiers and snowboarders of all levels.
“This is an exciting and significant investment into the ski experience here at Red Lodge. Upgrading to this high-speed triple chair will be a transformation of the beginner experience.” said Jeff Schmidt, Red Lodge Mountain’s General Manager.
The lift being purchased is currently operating as the Sunnyside Lift at Alta and is a Garaventa built CTEC high-speed triple chairlift. The lift will replace the current Miami Beach double chairlift with a modified lift alignment to better serve the terrain. Installed in 1973, the Miami Beach lift has served as access to beginner runs and the Miami Beach Terrain Park.
“The Sunnyside Lift has the perfect horsepower and capacity for the Miami terrain.” said Jeff Schmidt.
