Quebec Ski Areas Ready For Season

Fall and cooler weather are giving skiers and snowboarders, as well as winter lovers, antsy legs. While some are getting their winter sports equipment ready, ski resorts are busy preparing for a great ski season!

New features across the province

Ski areas have made every effort to offer skiers and snowboarders a memorable experience in nature that promotes physical activity and contributes to a healthy lifestyle. In addition, the industry is mobilizing around concerted actions to adapt to climate change and to adopt responsible and sustainable practices, such as the use of technologies that ensure better energy efficiency, improved snowmaking systems and the automation of certain processes.

The following regional examples show that the ski industry is full of innovative and sustainable projects:

Lower St. Lawrence 

  • At Mont-Saint-Mathieu Park, enthusiasts will see an expansion of the snow park, an improvement to the snowmaking system allowing earlier and later access to an area with multiple glades.

Eastern Townships

  • At Mont-Orford, the addition of the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) system will allow for a simplified customer experience, and improvements to the snowmaking system will ensure that skiers have a longer ski season, as well as at Mont Sutton and Owl's Head. As for Bromont, montagne d'expériences, in addition to improving the snowmaking system, it is continuing to develop its Versant des Épinettes.

Centre-du-Québec

  • At Gleason, the transformation of the lighting on a trail to LED lights, an improvement to the snowmaking system and a new party area will surprise the faithful skiers and snowboarders.

Quebec and Charlevoix

  • Mont Grand-Fonds will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year with the addition of a magic carpet and improvements to the snowmaking system.

Chaudière-Appalaches

  • Le Massif du Sud will improve its customer experience with the implementation of the RFID system on the mountain. 

North Shore

  • This will be the year of the grand re-opening for Gallix ski resort, which was partially closed last season due to a major breakdown on the lift.

Gaspésie

  • Fans of Petit Chamonix will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the ski resort, while thrill-seekers at Val d'Irène will be able to take off on two new double-black runs. 

Lanaudière

  • At Ski Garceau, in addition to improvements to the snowmaking system, customers will notice the redevelopment of some trails, the construction of a chalet for patrollers and some infrastructure renovations.

Laurentian Mountains

  • Belle Neige will celebrate its 60th anniversary with the construction of a new lift, La Fenster, as well as improvements to the snowmaking system. In Vallée Bleue, the new Le Muskeg bar will be the scene of great après-ski stories.
  • The Summits group is announcing improvements to the snowmaking system at Sommet Saint-Sauveur, Versant Avila, Sommet Gabriel and Sommet Morin Heights, as well as a new learning zone at Sommet Olympia. At Sommet Gabriel, skiers will be able to sit in the new La Laurentienne lift.
  • At Mont Blanc, the new main lift boarding mat, the new service center and improvements to the Pioneer Bar will delight skiers and snowboarders, while at Tremblant, a new web application will arrive so guests can make the most of the mountain and the village.
  • Montérégie Mont Rigaud will offer a different experience to the users of the magic carpet since it will now be covered with a dome. The mountain's lighting will now be LED, in addition to the improvement of the snowmaking system. At Ski Saint-Bruno, the construction of a new terrace and a ski café will please après-ski enthusiasts.

  • Outaouais. At Camp Fortune, the expansion of the main lodge will be the biggest news, but improvements to the snowmaking system will extend the ski season.

  • Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. At Mont Fortin, the new magic carpet will delight beginners in skiing or snowboarding, while at Valinouët, the new website will be launched and the renovations to the resto-pub will be completed, for memorable après-ski.
