PyeongChang 2018 Unveils Victory Ceremony Podiums And Presenter Outfits
The countdown to the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 reached the 50-days-to-go milestone on 21st December 2017.
The PyeongChang 2018 Organising Committee (POCOG) marked the occasion with a special weekend of celebrations at the Olympic Park in Seoul, showcasing a selection of the sports on the programme at PyeongChang 2018.
A further milestone in the countdown to the Games was the unveiling of the victory ceremony podiums and presenter outfits, today, 27th December.
They follow the theme of the Olympic medals in its traditional style and Korean influence. The bold colours of red, white and blue symbolise the Korean flag and express the host nation’s identity. The hat known as the pungcha (풍차) is a modern interpretation of the traditional style.
The podium is another symbol of Korean tradition and design, inspired by the traditional ‘giwa (기와)’ roof tiles, and ‘dancheong (단청)’, which is a traditional painting seen on wooden buildings in Korea.
Additional milestones in the countdown to the start of the Games include the opening of the main press centre on 9th January 2018 and the opening of the Olympic Villages on 1st February.
