Purgatory Resort Heats Up Summer With New Chile Cook-Off
Purgatory Resort welcomes summer with a new Chili Cook-off event on Saturday, June 15. This sizzling event marks the start of a summer at Purgatory with on-mountain activities, signature events and Durango's only lift-served mountain bike park.
The Chili Cook-off is the ideal kickoff to a fun-filled summer season on the mountain, as teams from Purgatory departments compete in a fiery competition, serving up the best chili recipes in Southwest Colorado. Guests are invited to sample the entries and cast their votes for chili champion.

- What: Chili tasting, voting, live music, beer, and activities

In addition to the Chili Cook-off, Purgatory’s Bike Park and other attractions will open for the summer season on Saturday, June 15, with daily operations from 10 am - 5 pm. Weekend operations will begin on August 23 to October 6 (Friday through Sunday).

Also new this summer, Purgatory is extending its operating hours on Fridays in July for the Sunset Shred mountain biking sessions from 4 pm to 7 pm. Purgatory’s Bike Park offers something for riders of all levels, from expert downhill trails to the fun and flowy Shangri-La beginner trail. Children ages 12 and under can enjoy free unlimited mountain bike uplifts with Power Kids, the only season pass in North America that offers unlimited free skiing and mountain bike uplifts for kids, no purchase required or strings attached.
Purgatory's summer season is packed with signature events and returning favorites, including Summer Brew, Carve Wars, Archery Fest, and the Mushroom and Wine Dinner. San Juan Sessions will feature live music on Friday evenings, while the Motorcycle Hill Climb is also making a comeback this year.
