Protest Sportswear Supports Stichting Wintersport Gehandicapten Through Protest FUN(D)

Stichting Wintersport Gehandicapten (Foundation for Disabled Winter Sports) has been selected as the recipient of the third-quarter 2024 donation from the Protest FUN(D) and is deeply grateful for this support.

The donation contributes to the goal: the purchase of three new Dynamique sit-skis, enabling children and adults with physical disabilities to experience the unique joy of winter sports. This contribution supports the mission of both organisations to make winter sports accessible to everyone, regardless of physical limitations.

Stichting Wintersport Gehandicapten (SWG), a Dutch foundation, has been dedicated to making winter sports accessible for people with physical disabilities for over 30 years. Using specially adapted sit-skis, these skiers can enjoy winter sports, either independently or with assistance.

Mark Boeren, Chairman of Stichting Wintersport Gehandicapten: “The financial support from the Protest FUN(D) is a significant step towards acquiring three new Dynamique sit-skis. Our current sit-skis are over 15 years old and no longer meet modern safety and technology standards. The new sit-skis feature advanced technology, providing even greater support for beginner and limited skiers in skiing independently. This purchase ensures the accessibility of winter sports for people with physical disabilities for the next 15 years."

TO GET THERE

The new sit-skis are designed for individuals aged 6 to 70 who, due to physical disabilities, are unable to ski standing up. These sit-skis not only make winter sports more accessible but also enhance the experience for participants by enabling them to ski independently and with confidence.

Each sit-ski will be used 4–6 times annually during ski trips and 4–8 times during clinics in the Netherlands. Participants are supported by experienced volunteer skiers who provide one-on-one guidance, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for individuals with disabilities.

Protest FUN(D): To help everyone ride more

The Protest FUN(D) was established by Protest Sportswear to support non-profit organisations that positively impact the lives of people with disabilities, special needs, or significant life changes. Each quarter, the Protest FUN(D) selects a non-profit organisation from submissions via its website to receive a donation. These donations enable organisations to bring specific projects to life. With this initiative, Protest Sportswear aims to contribute to a world where more people, regardless of their limitations, can pursue their dreams and experience the strength and freedom of sports—fully aligned with their mission: To help everyone ride more.
