Powderhorn Announces Winter 17/18 Opening Day, Offers Early Season Rates

Powderhorn Mountain Resort will open for the Winter 17/18 season on December 23rd, 2017. Despite an unseasonably warm and dry early winter, the resort will open with limited terrain and offer special product rates for the holidays.

With snowmaking running at capacity, Powderhorn has taken full advantage of recent colder temperatures to create man-made snow across key portions of the mountain. The resort’s efforts will result in opening with limited terrain this Saturday. Powderhorn plans to open the Easy Rider lift servicing Lower-Dude and E-Z runs as well as a terrain park on Lower Peacemaker. Powderhorn is offering $25 Easy Rider lift tickets for ages 13 and up and $12 lift tickets for ages 12 and under. A limited-time $45 ‘Ski & Ride Holiday Special’ that includes an Easy Rider lift ticket, all rental equipment, and a ski or snowboard lesson is also available.

“Despite significant difficulties with Mother Nature, we’ve worked hard to prepare the mountain for opening day” said Sam Williams General Manager at Powderhorn. “Now it’s time to get out those skis and snowboards and celebrate.”

In coordination with Opening Day, Powderhorn is hosting a Think Snow Season Kick-Off party on December 23rd at Warehouse 25 in Grand Junction from 6:30PM-11:30PM. The all-ages event includes a ski and snowboard movie premiere, complimentary drinks for season pass holders, and live music by Cimmaron Moon. Season pass holders can also pick up their season passes during the event.
