Positive Start To The Season For German Ski Areas
Just in time for the start of the season at the beginning of December, cold temperatures, snowfall and sunshine in the ski areas ensured optimal winter sports conditions.
A storm over the Christmas period briefly affected ski operations in Bavaria. For example, the cable car on the Zugspitze could not run on Christmas Eve due to the strong wind.
The lifts in the Sudelfeld and Spitzingsee area were also briefly stopped for safety reasons, but were already open from December 25th. back into continuous operation.
The ski areas K1 and Ettelsberg can offer a restart for the weekend after the well-known Christmas thaw in this region and a limited range of slopes thanks to the currently cold temperatures.
At higher altitudes, operators and guests are looking forward to a continued good winter season after the weather has calmed down and there has been a lot of snowfall.
The demand for leisure activities in the local mountains is also very high this year, which is thanks to the wide range of year-round offerings for the entire family.
In addition to skiing and snowboarding, winter hiking and touring, year-round toboggan runs such as the Allgäu Coaster in Oberstdorf also offer attractive sports opportunities in the mountains.
“We are pleased about the positive start to the season and the good course of the Christmas holidays and wish cable car operators and guests a relaxing, eventful and safe winter in our mountains,” said Antonia Asenstorfer, 3rd board member of the Association of German Cable Cars (VDS) and managing director of the Brauneck- and Wallbergbahnen GmbH.
