Planai-Hochwurzen-Bahnen Receives ISO Certifications For Quality And Environmental Management

After an intensive preparation process lasting around a year, the Planai-Hochwurzen Railways were awarded the internationally recognized ISO certifications 9001 for quality management and 14001 for environmental management on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. This award was initially given to the Planai, Hochwurzen, Dachstein, Planai-Bus & Reisebüro as well as the catering businesses and underlines the company's commitment to the highest standards in its environmental and quality policy.

After extensive internal audits carried out by the Planai-Hochwurzen-Bahnen's dedicated quality and environmental management team, the external audit was carried out by TÜV Austria from October 23rd to 25th. The fulfillment of the high standards in these areas was successfully demonstrated and the certificate was handed over on October 25, 2023 by Ingold Wilhelmer and Carmen Weinold from TÜV Austria in the presence of a large delegation from the Planai-Hochwurzen Railways.

Planai managing director Georg Bliem is very pleased: “These certificates are not only a recognition of our efforts, but also underline our role model effect in the industry. Our goal is to continually develop these standards and subsequently expand them to the Galsterberg ski mountain and the Wilder Berg in Mautern.”

In order to ensure the implementation of the quality and environmental policy of the Planai-Hochwurzen-Bahnen, clear and measurable goals were set in the areas of quality and environmental management.

Environmental and sustainability goals of the Planai-Hochwurzen railways

The aim is to achieve a steady increase in internal electricity production by 2030 and to optimize snowmaking resources. In addition, half of public buses should be powered by renewable energy by 2030. The use of alternative fuels for snow groomers is being intensively tested and evaluated. Another goal is to keep guests' carbon footprint below the Austrian average. Internal training and information events are intended to raise employees' awareness of environmental issues.

Quality goals of the Planai-Hochwurzen railways

The quality goals include further increasing customer satisfaction. The aim is also to implement ideas from a continuous improvement process and to ensure the best information flows for employees. Ensuring the best training for apprentices is also a central part of these quality efforts.
