Pitztal's "Hochzeiger 2.5" 8 Pack Chair Starts Operation

No new development, but also no pure replacement investment: the new 8-seater chairlift in the Pitztal Hochzeiger winter sports area replaces its predecessor after 32 years and at the same time expands horizons and scope. Thanks to a cleverly modified route, the cable car now opens up around 70 percent of the slopes and takes guests on a breathtaking panoramic ride to almost the summit cross of the Hochzeiger (2560 m). The name "Hochzeiger 2.5" alludes to this. Functionality, comfort and safety are trademarks of the railway, which was built as part of the sustainable quality offensive. It is characterized by an energy-efficient drive and is a "real Pitztal": Built with local construction companies and a lot of material from the Tyrolean high valley.

“It wasn't about the greatest possible capacity,” emphasizes Thomas Fleischhacker, managing director of Hochzeiger Bergbahnen. The fact that an 8-seater chairlift is now replacing the old one with four seats is due to the safety aspect. "The larger models are heavier and therefore less susceptible to wind and can also be used reliably in gusts," explained Fleischhacker. In order to be able to guarantee operation even in stormy weather conditions, it was also decided to use a closed mountain station - with XXL panorama windows for an airy impression. From a distance, the building looks like a rock in the format of an alpine hut: gray concrete, anthracite-colored bricks, barely noticeable, but blends in with the high alpine environment. The entire roof structure is made of wood. "We have done without steel and, where possible, uses renewable raw materials, ”added Fleischhacker. They come from the region, as do most of the companies that were on the Hochzeiger. From carpentry and roofing to electrical engineering and civil engineering. As a responsible company, Hochzeiger Bergbahnen has an eye on the value chain.

Numerous Swiss stone pines, spruces and larches have already been planted as part of the extensive renaturation work. The new route runs about 300 meters further to the right, almost on the edge of the ski area with a total of 40 kilometers of slopes. From the armchair you can now see far into the rear Pitztal with the Rofelewand (3353 m) and in the other direction you can see almost the entire winter sports area up to the Zirbenbahn. While guests enjoy the new perspectives, the organizers are particularly proud of the improved connections: Because "Hochzeiger 2.5" now offers access to around 70 percent of the slopes. "Compared to other ski areas, we have fewer lifts in use - but they are very efficient," said Fleischhacker.

The modern chairlift from Doppelmayr scores not only in terms of energy efficiency, but also in terms of comfort. It is equipped with weather protection hoods and heated comfort seats. In addition, locked strikers guarantee a decisive safety plus, especially for children. Last but not least: the modern, simple design also impresses aesthetes.
