Pilatus-Bahnen AG - Another Record Year In 2024

Pilatus Railways AG achieved record results in 2024. With revenue of over CHF 43 million, EBITDA of CHF 16 million, and 796,594 visitors to the mountain (+4.7%), the 2023 result was exceeded. Sandra Bütler, CEO of Pilatus Railways for a year, is convinced that the success is above all the success of the entire team: "I am impressed by the collaboration of the employees in all areas of the mountain. Our team is committed to keeping the Pilatus destination moving, and this passion is crucial for us."
Pilatus Railways Ltd. recorded a new revenue record in 2024 with CHF 43,177,434 (+7.6% compared to 2023). Despite the rather modest weather in spring and early autumn, this was due to the continued recovery of the key markets, particularly the US market. The Golden Tour once again proved to be a crowd puller. The soundness of the strategy is also demonstrated by the stable travel behavior of Swiss guests and the very good guest mix.
Despite a doubling of electricity costs due to high market prices, the company was able to effectively control overall costs, so that EBITDA increased again by +6.7% to CHF 16.1 million.
Various innovations have improved the quality of stay for guests: The reservation system for the cog railway and the introduction of seat reservations, so-called time tickets, in Alpnachstad have proven successful. This has shortened or made waiting times more pleasant for visitors.
Once again, it became clear that the Pilatus Railways have growth potential during the winter months. The large number of guests during the summer months often pushes the limits of capacity, so the focus is on further developing winter products.
PILATUS-BAHNEN AG is one of the most successful tourism companies in Central Switzerland. Around 270 employees during the high season and 150 during the low season work with great enthusiasm every day to serve national and international guests. The diverse destination on Mount Pilatus, with the world's steepest cogwheel railway, cable cars, hotels, restaurants, seminar and banquet facilities, and Central Switzerland's largest rope park, promises exciting mountain experiences in nature.
