Pianezza Chairlift In Bolbeno – Borgo Lares, In The Valli Giudicarie Officially Inaugurated
The Pianezza chairlift in Bolbeno – Borgo Lares, in the Valli Giudicarie in Trentino has been officially inaugurated.
The facility, built by CCM Finotello, serves the lowest ski slopes in Italy: the valley station is at an altitude of 586 metres, the mountain station at 792 metres. With a capacity of 1,600 people per hour and a speed of 2.5 m/s, the lift covers a distance of 702 metres.
Over the years, the Bolbeno ski area has become an important training centre for many municipalities in Trentino thanks to its favourable microclimate, dedicated operators and an efficient technical snowmaking system. This "ski academy" for alpine skiing now offers slopes for beginners, a track for competition training and another slope for all skiers.
"For me, Bolbeno has always been the 'talent factory' of skiing," explained Albert Ballardini, Vice President of Trentino Sviluppo. "Here, children from our valleys can easily be introduced to skiing without their families having to make long daily journeys or incur high costs. Combined with the unique microclimate and the commitment of local volunteers, this is a success story that is often envied and imitated. For this reason, the Province of Trento, through its subsidiary Trentino Sviluppo, has decided to make significant investments - with the certainty that it will pay off."
The province of Trento has classified Bolbeno as a strategically important ski area for the local communities. Due to the low altitude, such areas are particularly vulnerable to climatic changes. In order to modernize the ski region, the provincial government, Trentino Sviluppo, the municipality and other local institutions together invested six million euros.
"Bolbeno is a model of resilience and energy. It shows that with commitment and the right investments, economic and social development is possible even in low-altitude ski resorts," commented Valeria Ghezzi, President of the Italian Cable Car Association ANEF.
