Phil Brown Retires From Canada’s Alpine Ski Team

Toronto’s Phil Brown is beginning a new chapter in his life, having announced his retirement from Canada’s Alpine Ski Team.

The 27-year-old whose passion for the sport was fostered at the Craigleith Ski Club leaves the national team program as a two-time Olympian, a World Championships’ silver-medallist in the team event, and a World Junior Championships’ bronze-medallist in the combined. 

“My time as a ski racer with Alpine Canada has been outstanding. I was able to achieve many of my goals as an athlete and was fortunate enough to compete in some big events during my tenure. These are memories I will never forget as I move forward into a new chapter of my life,” said Brown, whose career included 86 World Cup starts. “I couldn't have done it without the support and encouragement from my teammates, coaches, support staff and sponsors. Thank you to everyone who was involved in shaping my career and pushing me to find new limits on the slopes!”

Brown was part of the squad that finished ninth in the team event at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, and helped tally three top-five finishes in the team event in FIS Alpine World Championships’ racing. Brown holds two NorAm Cup overall titles, and two NorAm Cup giant slalom titles to his name.
