Patrick "Brusti" Armbruster Launches Crowdfunding For Snowboard History Photobook Project

Patrick „Brusti“ Armbruster is planning a new photo project. „Barely made it“ is an inside story about snowboarding is a Snowboard history photobook project. Brusti just started a Crowdfunding campaign to bring it to life.

Patrick ‚Brusti' Armbruster up in Dietikon - a suburb outside Zurich - Switzerland. Through skateboarding he discovered snowboarding in the late 80's. Taking pictures and documenting was always a big passion of mine Brusti. In 1994 he had his first pictures published in a Swiss Snowboard Magazine. In 1996 he became a senior photographer at Snowboarder (Monster Backside Magazine) for three years. From 1999-2002 he was senior photographer at Onboard magazine. In 1999 he started to produce one of the first European 16mm snowboard movies together with Drew Stevenson which then turned into the Absinthe Films production with Justin Hostynek. Together with Justin, Shane Charlebois and David Vladyka (as well as all the others along the way) they released a snowboard movie every year. In 2005 they produced their own reality documentary series for FUEL TV in the US - called Flipside about the making of their Absinthe Films movies. The show went on for three years.

The Absinthe Films movies featured some of the best riders in the world and were known for its superb soundtrack and quality of filming and editing. The riding was groundbreaking. Their movies won numerous awards with their snowboard movies. Pleasure Magazine approached Brusti this summer about putting together their upcoming issue as their guest editor which will release in October 2021.

He says “the project to produce a book about our times in snowboarding has been with me for over 20 years. In 2013 I started to scan my whole archive of analog photos. Thousands of slides, negatives, medium format pictures documenting a legendary time in snowboarding. The photo book will become a contemporary document of snowboarding in the 90 & 00 years. The time when snowboarding became popular, the riders were idealized to rock stars and the events became pilgrimage sites for the fans. I had the privilege to be in the middle of it instead of just being there. So over the years an archive of pictures of the world's best snowboarders in front of and behind the scenes was created. The best action pictures but more a personal insight into the travels, room parties and portraits of the riders who made snowboarding what it is today. ”

The book will be realized through crowdfunding on Indiegogo and will cost €45. 'Barely Made it' will be shipped in March 2022. It will be a coffee table book 24x30cm of about 240 pages, hardcover, 24x30cm (10' x 12’ inches) and numbered, featuring: Terje Haakonsen, Gigi Rüf , Wolle Nyvelt, Romain de Marchi, Circe Wallace, JP Solberg, Michi Albin, Fabien Rohrer, Gian Simmen, Peter Line, Steve Gruber, Jonas Emery, David Benedek, Ingemar Backman, Iker Fernandez, Johan Olofsson, Stine Brun-Kjeldaas, Shaun White, Kale Stevens,Marius Sommer, Nicolas Müller, Fredi Kalbermatten, Trevor Andrew, Joni Malmi, Wille Luoma, Kratter Brothers, Danny Kass, Babs Charlet, Anne Molin-Kongsgaard, Travis Rice, Nic Droz, Keir Dillon, Aleksi Litovaara, Eero Ettala, David Pischi, Dani Sappa, Mike Ranquet....
