Panorama Mountain Resort Announces Two New Attractions
Panorama Mountain Resort is set to launch two new mountain-based attractions in 2024 as part of the latest phase of a multi-year resort enhancement project that has seen over $32 million invested into the visitor experience in recent years. With $5 million invested ahead of the 2023/24 winter season alone, Panorama continues to strengthen its state-of-the-art snowmaking system and grooming fleet, along with upgrades in lodging and ecommerce.
The resort will also soon welcome the first residents of the Nordix at Panorama townhomes. A $40 million, ski-in/ski-out real estate development of 52 contemporary mountain townhomes located at the base of the Silver Platter lift.
Winter 2023/24
Panorama is looking forward to welcoming the public back to its slopes on December 8, as it kicks off the 2023/24 winter season. Glading projects from the summit have opened new lines for snow seekers, while behind-the-scenes improvements to snowmaking infrastructure and the addition of two more Prinoth snowcats, continue to enhance the quality and efficiency of snowmaking and grooming on the mountain.
“We are exceptionally well positioned and very fortunate to have the premier snowmaking system in Western Canada,” says Paccagnan. “Our ongoing commitment to investing in state-of-the-art snowmaking technology, ongoing summer slope preparation, the expertise of our highly skilled team, and beautiful natural snowfall sets us up for a great season, every season.”
In May, Panorama became the first lift-accessed ski resort in Canada to be certified as a Whitebark Pine Friendly Ski Area. The designation from the Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation recognizes Panorama’s more than 30 years of efforts to support the recovery of this threatened alpine tree species.
Skiers and snowboarders will also enjoy twice the access to Panorama’s Monster terrain with two passenger snowcats now shuttling guests to the furthest reaches of the resort’s renowned Taynton Bowl. And don’t miss the huge lineup of events happening this winter including the Freeride Frenzy January 26 – 28, Panorama Pride & Ski Festival March 22 – 24, the return of the FIS NorAm Cup, April 1 – 6, and Red Bull Slopesoakers on April 13. Summer 2024
Looking forward to summer 2024, Panorama is taking adventure to new heights with the addition of a mountain coaster and aerial adventure park to the resort’s program of summer attractions which include a downhill mountain bike park, kids camps, whitewater rafting, ATV tours, a pools and waterslide complex and the spectacular Greywolf Golf Course.
“We are incredibly excited to introduce the mountain coaster to our guests,” says Steve Paccagnan, President & CEO of Panorama Mountain Resort. “It will be a remarkable experience! With our spectacular mountain backdrop, the coaster will bring an exhilarating family-friendly thrill to visitors looking for a unique way to enjoy the outdoors. It’s a compelling addition to our resort’s summer offerings.”
Designed and produced by Austrian-based experts SunKid GmbH, the coaster is set to become a must-do for families and thrill-seekers alike. Based in the Discovery Zone, guests will ride the Discovery Chairlift to the start of the coaster at 1,351 metres, before beginning their descent. Winding through the forest and picturesque mountain landscape, riders will travel 171 vertical metres on an adrenaline-pumping journey with twists, turns and drops before returning to the village.
The aerial adventure park will quite literally elevate the guest experience to new heights. The attraction creates a unique outdoor activity, with purpose-built structures creating a suspended course of obstacles and challenges from zips, rope courses, swinging bridges and various climbing elements, guests will be able to test their skills at a higher level.
“It’s all about embracing the spirit of adventure, and we are thrilled that these exciting additions to the resort will help create unforgettable memories for families,” says Paccagnan.
Panorama Mountain Resort anticipates opening for Bike Park preview weekends from May Long Weekend, with full summer operations starting in late June 2024.
