Oxygene Ski & Snowboard School Turns 30 This Season And Celebrates With Free Lessons

To celebrate Oxygene Ski & Snowboard School’s 30th Anniversary, and coinciding with a double celebration of the French borders opening, on the 30th of each month anyone lucky enough to be in one of Oxygene’s 14 French ski resorts can join in on some ski or snowboard lessons or activities for FREE.

Founded in 1992 in La Plagne by the de Monvallier brothers, Oxygene is now one of France’s most successful independent ski schools, offering tuition in skiing, snowboarding, ski touring and telemarking, as well as a number of other activities including Moonbikes, e-mountain biking, speed riding, cross country skiing and adaptive skiing - a particular speciality of Oxygene over the past 20 years.

The free sessions offer a variety of different on snow activities with a professional, yet fun, English speaking Oxygène instructor or guide. Spaces are limited and are offered on a first come, first served basis.

The next free sessions will be available on Sunday January 30th, with all 14 Oxygene resorts participating - Belle Plagne, Courchevel, Grand Bornand, La Plagne, La Tania, Les Menuires, Megeve, Meribel, St Martin de Belleville, Serre Chevalier, Tignes, Ubaye Valley, Val d’Isère and Val Thorens.

This particular month activities include a ski touring taster session in Megeve, an introduction to telemark skiing in Les Menuires, a snowboarding initiation in the 3 Valleys and an off-piste excursion in Serre Chevalier. Later on during the season you can also join a Moonlight ski session in La Plagne or even have a go at speed riding in La Grand Bornand.

In 1992 Oxygene ski & snowboard school was established in the French resort of La Plagne, extremely popular with British skiers and snowboarders. This was soon followed by the ski equipment hire shop, and then in 1997, the company expanded to Val d’Isère. In the year 2000, an adaptive ski program was introduced and it is now an important part of the overall Oxygene offering. In 2016, Oxygene acquired the 3 Valleys ski school Magic in Motion and started to expand its destinations that today include 14 resorts in the French Alps. A family run business, Bertrand and Pierre de Monvallier, and their brother Julien, can still be found doing what they love the most, teaching.
