Oxygene Ski & Snowboard School Celebrates 30th birthday
To celebrate Oxygene Ski & Snowboard School’s 30th Anniversary, on the 30th of March anyone lucky enough to be in one of Oxygene’s 14 French ski resorts can join in with some ski or snowboard lessons or activities, free of charge.
The free sessions offer a variety of different on snow activities with a professional, yet fun, English speaking Oxygene instructor or guide. Spaces are limited and are offered on a first come, first served basis.
All 14 Oxygene resorts are participating - Belle Plagne, Courchevel, Grand Bornand, La Plagne, La Tania, Les Menuires, Megeve, Meribel, St Martin de Belleville, Serre Chevalier, Tignes, Ubaye Valley, Val d’Isère and Val Thorens.
In 1992 Oxygene Ski & Snowboard School was established in the French resort of La Plagne, extremely popular with British skiers and snowboarders. This was soon followed by the ski equipment hire shop, and then in 1997, the company expanded to Val d’Isère. In the year 2000, an adaptive ski programme was introduced and it is now an important part of the overall Oxygene offering. In 2016, Oxygene acquired the 3 Valleys ski school Magic in Motion and started to expand its destinations that today include 14 resorts in the French Alps.
Oxygene is still a family-run business, with brothers Pierre de Monvallier and Julien Favre still doing what they love the most, teaching. Sadly, their brother Bertrand de Monvallier passed away in February 2022 following a 10 month battle with a glioblastoma brain tumour.
Anyone that happens to be in one of these resorts on Wednesday, March 30th can book a free session. Details are below:
- La Plagne & Belle Plagne: Join a ski guide and discover the area (1pm to 5pm). Intermediate ski level required.
- Val d’Isère: Introduction to snowboarding (2pm to 5pm). 12 years old + Tignes: Introduction to snowboarding for children aged 3 to 5 (3pm to 5pm) Meribel,
- Courchevel and La Tania: Introduction to freestyle skiing (2.30pm to 4.30pm). 12 years old +
- Val Thorens, Les Menuires and St Martin: Snowboard taster session (2.30pm to 4.30pm). 8 years old +
- Megeve: Snowboard taster session (2.30pm to 4.30pm). 8 years old +
- Grand Bornand: Introduction to speed riding (9am to 12pm), including equipment. 16 years old +
- Ubaye: Introduction to ski touring (8.30am to 12.30pm). Minimum ski level 3, able to ski blue runs confidently. 12 years old +
- Serre Chevalier: Off-piste skiing guided session (2pm to 5pm). Previous off-piste skiing experience is required.
