Norvegr Promotes The World’s Best Ski Lodge Down Duvets, Crafted With Norwegian Tradition

Three generations of the Stene family in Trondheim, Norway have been quietly crafting tailor-made duvets to their unique design since 1956. Loyal customers range from royals to rockstars, and the luxury travel market is catching on.

Norvegr have been pioneers in comfort for more than 70 years, creating the world’s most indulgent down duvets and pillows. Building on an ancient tradition of Norwegian craft excellence, we follow three generations of Stene family legacy with an unwavering commitment to quality. Each duvet combines unique channel construction techniques with the best ethically sourced natural down to balance insulation with breathability. We take the essentials of sleep and elevate them to a lifelong luxury, following a circular model and offering a renewal service for duvets and pillows. Norvegr products are for all places, all seasons and all ages; taking you on a transportive journey to a place of true tranquillity.

Norvegr means ‘the way to the north’

Sumptuous down has been keeping Norwegians cosy for more than 1,000 years. With Norvegr’s heart firmly planted in Norway, it is guided by nature and the principles of purity it teaches. Norvegr products showcase the very best of the organic world, avoiding synthetics in sourcing and manufacturing. The result is a collection of bedroom products that are never complicated, and instead shine in their simplicity.

Light as a cloud

The first thing that people notice about Norvegr duvets is how light they are; many disbelieve they will be kept warm by such a light duvet. The next morning, refreshed, they are amazed and often say it is like sleeping under ‘a warm cloud’.

“All our customers react to the lightness of the product. It’s so airy and soft, it’s surprising.” explains Nils Stene, current CEO of Norvegr and the third Stene to sit at the company’s helm. “It can regulate your temperature in a way that most people aren’t used to. It can warm you up when you need it, cool you down when you need it, all while staying as light as a cloud.”

Unique craftsmanship

Each duvet is tailor-made for its owner, based on thorough consultation on their sleep habits and preferences. The Steins have been innovating sleep science and perfecting Norvegr’s signature channel construction since 1956. Using channels instead of box-stitching and cross-seams allows air to move freely from head to toe. Combined with the quality of the down, this provides better flow of heat, moisture and increased breathability, creating a product that ensures an uninterrupted night of rest for all places and all seasons.

Norvegr restoration service

Every purchase with Norvegr is a lifelong product. The iconic duvets and pillows can be replaced and renewed so each product can stay with you for up to half a century, creating a circularly sustainable business model. Customers return items to the specialised family-run cleaning facility in Norway, the sole expert in down cleaning in the country for a nominal fee. For duvets, Norvegr recommends utilising the restoration service every decade, and for pillows, every five years.

From grandparents to children and grandchildren, the Norvegr story began in 1956, repairing down duvets with traditional, Norvegian craftsmanship. A commitment to the longevity of its products, prioritising reuse and rejuvenation, means Norvegr has always had sustainable roots. Its enduring passion for excellence has fuelled its growth into one of the world’s finest suppliers of down bedding.

“That’s why over 25% of our customers are returning customers, it’s extraordinary in this industry.” Henrik, Nils’ father, tells us. “Parents will tell their children about us, who will tell their grandchildren, and those years of trust become something priceless.”

Invest in down

The eiderdown for Norvegr’s limited-edition duvets comes from abandoned eider duck nests on the Norwegian island of Svalbard. After midsummer, the mother and her ducklings head out to sea until the next year. The team then collects the down from their abandoned nests, which the ducks would never use again. At no point do they touch the birds – the mother duck plucks the down from her own chest to line the nest. Other down sources are all from animal welfare certified, European suppliers.

Contemporary sleep culture

The peak of relaxation - the moment between being asleep and awake - is very important to Norvegr. It is at these times that the bed becomes the most comfortable place in the world and a true sanctuary. Norvegr are global experts in comfort, merging three generations of family tradition and an ancestral Norwegian culture of craft. Combining the purest natural products with contemporary sleep culture to elevate the essentials of sleep and create moments of tranquillity.
