Northstar Partners With High Fives Foundation To Host Athletes At Bike Park Through Epicpromise Grant
Northstar California Resort is excited to partner with High Fives Foundation to host over 20 athletes for two full days of riding at the Northstar Bike Park September 21 and September 28, 2022, conditions permitting. Though the park is open Thursday – Sunday, Northstar California is able to invite these adaptive riders on a day we’re typically closed to spin lifts for this private event through the EpicPromise Foundation. In addition, the EpicPromise Foundation allows Northstar to make this a free event for all the registered participants and covers rentals for up to ten guests.
"Partnering with High Fives Foundation is so meaningful to our team here at Northstar; they are such an incredible part of the Tahoe community that provide world-class resources and opportunities for injured athletes and Veterans all year around,” said Amy Ohran, VP and GM of Northstar California Resort. “The Northstar team is just honored to be able to partner with High Fives through the EpicPromise Foundation in this way, and to share in the fun and inspiration that this event brings to the resort and the High Five athletes every summer.”
Based in Truckee, California, the High Fives Foundation became an official 501(c)(3) non-profit on January 19, 2009, and has since raised funds, secured alternative treatments, aided in the recovery of hundreds of athletes across the nation, and launched campaigns around injury prevention. This event in partnership with Northstar California is a celebration of that collective work over the last decade and serves as a time for the High Fives crew to come together as a community to do what they love.
"This is now the third year in a row that we have been awarded an EpicPromise Grant to further our growth in the adaptive mountain bike community," said Roy Tuscany, CEO of High Fives Foundation. "Bringing together a group of individuals all with disabilities – who all know how to adapt and overcome – there is only outcome: magic! That happens in the form of shredding the trails of Northstar on mountain bikes. We are lucky to be able to offer this type of experience, and we are blessed to know that we are supported in the community by our local resorts."
