New Winter Park And Ride Program At Squaw Valley

Weekend park and ride service to local ski resorts will soon be coming to Truckee, offering guests the option to help reduce congestion, ditch the car and be dropped off right at the base of the slopes. The seasonal service will be provided by Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit operated by Placer County in partnership with Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows and Northstar California. 

The winter park and ride program will provide free bus service on weekends from late December through mid-March between Truckee park and ride locations to Squaw Valley along the state Route 89 corridor and Northstar along the state Route 267 corridor.

Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit services will be supplemented with additional bus service, which is being sponsored by both Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows and Northstar California. The additional bus service will operate in coordination with TART, offering service every 30 minutes during peak morning and evening periods from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. between park and ride lots and ski resorts. 

The park and ride service for the state Route 89 corridor serving Squaw Valley will operate from the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District administrative offices on Donner Pass Road (behind fire station and Wild Cherries). The park and ride service for the state Route 267 corridor serving Northstar will operate from the Truckee Tahoe Airport District on Truckee Airport Road. The park and ride service will be offered on the following dates:

• Dec. 28-30
• Jan. 5-6, 12-13, 19-20, 26-27
• Feb. 2-3, 9-10, 16-18, 23-24
• March 2-3, 9-10

Skiers and riders traveling from Truckee to Alpine Meadows can take the bus to Squaw Valley, then connect to Alpine Meadows via the Squaw Alpine Express shuttle.
