New Trails Officially Opened In The Wexl Arena In St. Corona

Wexl Arena is a prime example of year-round tourism and offers unforgettable experiences for the whole family

Mountain bike enthusiasts and numerous representatives from sports, business, tourism and politics met yesterday Saturday afternoon in St. Corona am Wechsel, where Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner officially opened the new pond trails in the Wexl Arena. The two trails are located between the Almrauschhütte and the reservoir: the new jump line "Insta360 Line" with a length of 700 meters forms the heart of the trail park extension, and the "Flowtrail Upper Section" with a length of 750 meters will follow in the autumn.

The governor spoke of her great joy at how this region has developed. "We all know that climate change is noticeable and noticeable and it was and is important to implement adaptation strategies in tourism as well," said Mikl-Leitner, by creating year-round offers. She recalled the time when St. Corona was still a pure winter destination, "back then, when the lifts were dismantled, there was great excitement, but today we have developed St. Corona into a successful year-round destination that offers unforgettable experiences for the whole family." To create such an offer, not only good cooperation between the state and the municipalities is needed, "but above all people like Karl Morgenbesser, who believed in this region from the very first minute and significantly supported its development into a year-round destination with a focus on 'Wexl Trails'," emphasised the governor.

Wexl Arena Managing Director Karl Morgenbesser thanked the state of Lower Austria for the "permanent support" that had contributed significantly to the development. But he especially thanked his "extremely cool trail crew who build and maintain here. For all of them, this is not just a job, but a matter close to their hearts."

Michael Gruber, mayor of St. Corona, spoke of a project that could only be implemented through close cooperation across the entire region and with the support of the state. "A project from which both the economy and tourism benefit, but above all many sports enthusiasts."

Helmut Miernicki, Managing Director of the Lower Austrian business agency ecoplus, also spoke and emphasized "the close partnership and good cooperation." The Wexl Trails funding project was supported from 2019 to 2024 with a budget of 500,000 euros and a funding rate of 50 percent by the eco.plus regional funding.
