New Service Center Opened At The Erlebnisalm Monichkirchen
The “Friends of the Mountains” winter festival recently took place at the Erlebnisalm Mönichkirchen. The festival day was also used to open the new service center right next to the Sonnenbahn valley station. It houses a welcome area and equipment rental all year round.
In addition, since the beginning of the season, the VOR bus has stopped directly in front of the service center in its own bus stop. State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, who traveled to the festival by bus, spoke of a “journey full of anticipation that was incredibly comfortable.” It is now possible for the Viennese guests to take the train to Aspang and from there take the bus here arrive. “So extremely convenient and a good and important step towards turning this former winter destination into a year-round destination. Above all, it is also an important step in turning Lower Austria from a destination for excursions into a vacation destination. Because more and more people are enjoying vacationing close to where they live.”
The region is ideal for this, she said, and went on to say: “It’s sensational, this area has a future.” The state governor emphasized the “good cooperation between the communities, the state and our managing director of ecoplus alpin, Markus Redl. Things are looking up in the entire region, and a big thank you for that.” The newly built service center is an important, necessary hotspot in the tourism region. Today marks the start of the 2024 winter festivals, which will take place not only in Mönichkirchen but also at Hochkar, Lackenhof, Semmering and Annaberg.
Mikl-Leitner added “We want to make the day of skiing an overall experience. In addition to the natural experience, there should be music, tradition, customs and lots of culinary delights. With this initiative we will succeed in bringing even more guests here.”
The state governor also pointed out the new “Friends of the Mountains” community, which aims to work together to promote the tourism destinations.
After Pastor Dietmar Orglmeister blessed the service center, Hermann Retter, owner and managing director of Retter Reisen, spoke. His company has been operating public transport in the greater Neunkirchen area since 2005.
Retter says: “It has always been important to us to connect tourist destinations in addition to public transport. We have now succeeded.” The bus is an environmentally friendly and safe means of transport, and the Retter company is “now going one better. As of January 2024, we converted our entire operation and use biogenic fuel. This means we save 90 percent CO2 on all of our buses. This is our contribution to the transition area,” concluded Retter.
