New Segnes Bike Trail Opens In LAAX
The new Segnes Trail in LAAX was opened on Friday, August 19, 2022, just in time for the weekend. After the Nagens Trail, the second “BikeVision” project in the Flims Laax Falera region has also been completed. The trail will gain in importance with regard to the dismantling of the Flims-Foppa-Naraus chairlift, as it will in future serve as a new connection to the popular Runca Trail via Flem Xpress.
Summer is slowly coming to an end. No reason, however, to store the bike in the basement! At the approaching start of autumn, bikers in LAAX can look forward to another real highlight: after a two-month construction phase, the new Segnes Trail will be officially opened on Friday, August 19, 2022. This leads from the Segneshütte to the start of the Runca Trail and is characterized by its varied, natural character.
A highlight over rock and stone
The enduro trail marked in red is aimed at advanced bikers. It starts at the Segneshütte at 2,100 meters and leads 2.7 kilometers and over 310 meters in altitude directly to the start of the Runca Trail. The upper, rocky part of the trail is shaped by the Flims landslide. In the direction of the Runca Trail, it becomes increasingly flowy and playful. Allegra Tourism was commissioned with the construction, which relied on a natural character. Diverse elements such as stone slabs, jumps and berms give the Segnes Trail that certain something. With a view of the mighty rock face of the Flimserstein, bikers are offered a unique driving experience in Graubünden.
Another milestone in the implementation of the "BikeVision"
The municipality of Flims has invested around CHF 300,000 in the new bike trail, and others are already being planned: “Following the construction of the Nagens Trail, the Segnes Trail is the second of six trail projects planned as part of the “BikeVision” in LAAX. ", says Johannes Schilder, bike product manager at Flims Laax Falera Management AG and continues: "The range of bikes in the region will be further expanded with a focus on family-friendly offers and beginner trails with green and blue degrees of difficulty."
The Segnes Trail will in future serve as a connection to the Runca Trail via the new "Flem Xpress" gondola lift once the Flims-Foppa-Naraus chairlift has been dismantled. After completion of the Flem Xpress, the three trails Runca, Nagens and Segnes will be directly accessible by train from spring 2025 and the LAAX bike trails will be even better connected.
