New Record For Tyrolean School Ski Campaign "Skifahr'n"

More than 870 school classes have been skiing on the Tyrolean slopes over the past weeks and months at particularly favourable conditions.

The Tyrolean school ski campaign "Skifahr'n" continues to enjoy great popularity: In the current 2024/25 winter season, 874 Tyrolean school classes have taken part to date (as of February 24th) and have recorded a total of 89,156 days of skiing - a new record! The initiative is sponsored by the Tyrolean cable cars, the state of Tyrol and the Tyrol Education Directorate and is also supported by Sport 2000 Rent. The aim is to enable children and young people to take part in winter sports - and at particularly attractive conditions.

Attractive conditions for Tyrolean students

As part of "Skifahr'n", school groups benefit from particularly favorable conditions:

• up to 9th grade: free ski tickets for students (Tyrol cable car specialist group)
• 10th to 13th grade: ski ticket for 5.00 euros per student and day (Tyrol cable car specialist group)
• Equipment rental: 8.00 euros per day for students and teachers (Sport 2000)
• Travel allowance: up to 500 euros for environmentally friendly travel by bus per class and school year (Tyrol state school sports service)
• Ski course funding: subsidy towards ski course costs (Tyrol state school sports service)

Winter sports for all: Social commitment of the cable cars

"This initiative enables all students to learn to ski at an early age and to have unforgettable experiences in the snow. By providing ski tickets free of charge or at a greatly reduced price, our 67 participating mountain railways make an annual contribution of over 2 million euros. Our companies are thus the cornerstone of this campaign, which has been working excellently for years," emphasizes Reinhard Klier, spokesman for the Tyrolean cable cars, adding: "The Tyrolean cable cars are not only committed to providing the best conditions for holiday guests, but are also specifically committed to supporting young people in their own country."

The campaign is rounded off by subsidized travel by bus and funding for the provision of ski instructors to create an “all-round carefree package” for the teachers and is thus a strong commitment to the future of winter sports in Tyrol.

Sustainable Travel

Since this year, the Tyrol State School Sports Service has also made a significant financial contribution to the success of the school ski campaign, contributing around 650,000 euros. In addition to the cost of the ski course, this also covered a large portion of the travel costs. This meant that schools could be offered an all-round, worry-free package and sustainable public transport to the ski days was massively increased.
