New Peter Anich III Combined Cable Car On Rangger Kopfl Has Officially Opened
In glorious winter weather, the new Peter Anich III combined cable car on Rangger Köpfl was officially opened. The inauguration took place in the presence of Tyrol's governor Anton Mattle and numerous representatives from politics, tourism and business.
The children from the two elementary schools and the Oberperfuss band provided the musical accompaniment. The 8.2 million euro "Peter Anich III" project ensures the continued existence of the ski area on Rangger Köpfl, creates another tourist highlight for the region and opens up an even better and more diverse range of winter sports for the population and guests in the greater Innsbruck area. Surprise moment: During the celebrations, supervisory board member Richard Rubatscher was awarded honorary citizenship of the municipality of Oberperfuss.
In his opening speech, Governor Anton Mattle stressed that projects like this are crucial for the tourism sector in Tyrol and increase the quality of the offer: "The Oberperfuss cable cars are a showcase example of our small-scale family ski areas, which offer affordable and attractive winter sports for both locals and guests. Skiing is more than a sport - it is part of Tyrolean tradition and identity. In this context, we in the Tyrol region are also supporting a large-scale school ski campaign to create inexpensive offers and thus reinforce enthusiasm for skiing among schoolchildren. In this spirit, I would like to congratulate the municipality of Oberperfuss and the local cable cars on the completion of the Peter Anich III combined cable car."
"With the new cable car, we now have three state-of-the-art cable cars, a platter lift and a magic carpet, which together are perfect for the first turns. With our combination cable car 'Peter Anich III', we now have decades of planning security and the best possible transport comfort. We see ourselves as a winter sports mountain and try to give guests a great mountain experience - whether in winter or summer," says Manuel Hujara, Managing Director of Bergbahnen Oberperfuss.
Congratulations from politics, tourism and the cable car industry: “Significant economic factor”
"The renovation of the lifts shows what is possible when a restrictive austerity policy is followed and, in addition, many people do voluntary work for our mountain railways. A very big thank you to everyone who believed in our lift and did everything they could to make it happen," said Johanna Obojes-Rubatscher, mayor of the municipality of Oberperfuss. "Peter Anich III is increasing the quality and variety of the winter offer on the Rangger Köpfl for guests and locals alike. The new combination lift opens up the mountain with the new high-altitude cross-country ski trail and the ten-kilometer-long toboggan run for other, non-skiing target groups. The investment is the basis for the sustainable economic survival of the Oberperfuss mountain railway, which represents a booking-decisive infrastructure for many accommodation providers in the region," said Peter Paul Mölk, chairman of Innsbruck Tourism. "Regional ski areas such as the Rangger Köpfl are an important economic factor for local businesses and the surrounding communities. They also serve as indispensable municipal sports facilities and social meeting points that sustainably promote community life and quality of life, particularly in rural areas. I would like to congratulate Manuel Hujara and his team on the timely completion of the new Peter Anich III combined cable car," said Reinhard Klier, head of the cable car section at the Austrian Chamber of Commerce.
Perfect landing: New mountain station as an eye-catcher and "landmark", construction time and budget according to plan
The new mountain station of the combined cable car is a crucial component and the architectural "landmark" of the "Peter Anich III" project, which was completed on schedule at a total cost of 8.2 million euros. The combined cable car, supplied by the Vorarlberg company Doppelmayr, consists of six-seater chairlifts and eight-seater gondolas. "Not all skiers want to take off their skis and get into a gondola," says Peter Lingenhel, area sales manager at Doppelmayr Seilbahnen. Combined cable cars have advantages, especially on mountains where several different sports are practiced. In his view, the Rangger Köpfl is particularly well suited to this type of lift, as it is a popular destination not only for skiers, but also for tobogganers, ski tourers and winter hikers. The financing was secured through a combination of Bergbahnen Oberperfuss GmbH's own funds, grants from the owners, the municipality of Oberperfuss and Innsbruck Tourism, state funding and a bank loan. The construction timeframe was also met: "Almost exactly six months passed between the groundbreaking ceremony and the final negotiations. I would like to thank my team, the municipality of Oberperfuss, the state of Tyrol, those responsible at Innsbruck Tourism and all officials from politics, tourism and the cable car industry. They all played a key role in ensuring that we were able to complete the project on schedule. My special thanks go to the children from the two primary schools and the Oberperfuss band, who provided the musical accompaniment for our inauguration ceremony," said Hujara. A surprise moment towards the end of the event: Richard Rubatscher, a long-standing member of the supervisory board of Bergbahnen Oberperfuss GmbH, was awarded honorary citizenship of the municipality of Oberperfuss in the presence of Governor Mattle. The Oberperfuss band played the final chord in the wintry ambience of the Peter Anich III mountain station with a view of the snow-covered mountain peaks all around.
