New Initiative “Kids On Ski - For Free” Brings Children To The Ski Slopes
“KIDS ON SKI - for free” is a new cross-Alpine campaign that aims to teach children to ski at an early age and get them excited about snow sports. The pilot group led by Mike Partel – Mountain Management – wants to bring 1,000 “kids” onto the slopes for free in 50 top ski regions over the next three years.
The 2023/24 ski season starts in Austria (Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis and Leogang), Switzerland (Aletsch Arena and Grindelwald) and Italy (Alta Badia and Madonna di Campiglio). In each of the six ski resorts, 200 children between the ages of 3 and 5 - i.e. preschool age - are invited to a total of five “for free” ski days on specific dates. Lift tickets, ski school, equipment and hotels are included.
The initiative is supported by local tourism associations and other sponsors who help shape the national marketing of the “Kids on Ski” idea.
This very lucrative offer is aimed at families and is intended to encourage parents to introduce their children to skiing at an early age. “Exercising in the fresh air, in fascinating nature together with other children or the family are good arguments for enabling children to have fun in the snow. In addition, it is becoming increasingly important that larger ski areas also pay more attention to young talent, as small and remote areas that have particularly focused on learning to ski are coming under increasing pressure due to climate change and the associated snow problems “We had to close part of it,” said Partel.
“Kids on Ski” sees itself, alongside many other existing activities (especially at school age), as the “first move to snow”. The initiative is based on the “promoters” – primarily parents and grandparents – passing on this enthusiasm at an early stage.
The marketing activities of “kids on ski” start at the end of October/beginning of November.
