New ice rink opened around the Silvretta Therme in Ischgl
Since opening the Silvretta Therme has had a lively flow of visitors. With yesterday's opening of the ice ring, the final construction work was successfully completed before Christmas. On an area of 1,300 m², the outdoor ice skating rink on the first floor of the thermal bath leads around the imposing structure, sometimes even through the building. More extras: A unique panoramic view of Ischgl, including an ice bar. The daily operating times of the ice rink are from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., those of the ice bar from 2:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Günther Zangerl and Markus Walser, the two board members of the Silvrettaseilbahn AG, symbolically cut the red ribbon at the visitor entrance to the Silvretta Therme, thus opening the first day of the thermal baths. Less than two weeks later, guests are now offered another highlight: an ice skating rink with a spectacular panoramic view and impressively staged LED elements, which were designed by the renowned artist Georg Salner, who comes from the Paznaun town of Galtür. "Following the positive experiences and feedback that we have been able to gain from the previous trial operation since December 8th, we are now pleased to be able to open the ice rink before Christmas.
Dynamic pricing system started December 21st
On the opening day, those responsible at Silvrettaseilbahn AG asked for leniency in connection with process optimizations that could still occur during the trial run. Since the start of operations, comprehensive knowledge of the processes in the various thermal bath areas has been collected and adapted at the same time. “In the last few days, technical fine-tuning had to be done with the water temperatures so that they corresponded 100% to the specified guidelines. In the brine pool we recognized acoustic inconsistencies that still have to be analyzed. Further updates will be made to the checkout system - we will also be making additions to the signage and will also be expanding the guidance system in the coming days," report Zangerl and Walser.
As a result, a conscious decision was made to extend the trial run up to and including December 20 in order to be able to make the final adjustments. Until then, the currently reduced trial tariffs, which are located in the lower price segment, will continue to apply - the dynamic price system came into force on December 21st.
Ice rink rounds off the variety of offers
An ice skate rental including a grinding shop, curling rinks with guaranteed exciting competitions and a lounge for interested spectators complete the unusual offer for a thermal bath. An exciting technical detail: The modern ice processing system was designed with sustainability in mind and works on the basis of environmentally friendly carbon dioxide instead of ammonia. The advantage: This technology provides both cold for the ice surface and heat at a high temperature level, so heat recovery can be used optimally.
