New Freeride Ski Developed By Porsche And Head Launches
Skiing legend Aksel Lund Svindal and Porsche Chief Designer Michael Mauer have been searching for the perfect line together since 2021 - in Porsche cars and on skis. The result: a new Freeride ski developed by Porsche and HEAD, the PORSCHE | HEAD 106 Series - the ski for the perfect line and TIME:OUT après ski moments that are important to both of them.
Porsche chief designer Michael Mauer and skiing legend Aksel Lund Svindal not only share a passion for skiing, motorsport, design and performance, but also strive for the same special thing. They are both always looking for the perfect line. With the PORSCHE | HEAD 106 Series, they continue their unique synergy to materialise a long-cherished dream: Together, the two masters of their trade developed and designed an unprecedented Freeride ski that incorporates all their expertise. A ski that ideally combines know-how from automotive and ski construction. That's what makes the PORSCHE | HEAD 106 Series the perfect ski for every Freerider.
TIME:OUT - skiing away from the groomed slopes
Working together closely, Porsche and HEAD have created a work of art on snow that represents more than the perfect line. With every single turn, the ski conveys a feeling of freedom and shared passion. TIME:OUT plays a decisive role. "In my job, it's always important to give your mind time to chill," says Michael Mauer. With that in mind, Aksel Lund Svindal now has more time for relaxation and reflection after his active career. "We both like to take time out away from the slopes, powder skiing, in remote places, without much technical assistance, relying on our own abilities," explains Aksel Lund Svindal. The PORSCHE | HEAD 106 Series gives them an agile, versatile and fun freeride ski that combines their unique feel for perfection in theory and reality.
Unique construction & exclusive design
For this limited edition ski in exclusive Porsche livery, HEAD has used the sustainable materials rattan and flax for the first time. Natural fibres produced in agriculture without conflicting with growing food are also used by Porsche in racing. Take the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR, for example, which competed in the 24-hour event at the Nürburgring. Compared to conventional plastics, natural fibres have an ecological advantage: their carbon footprint is 85 percent smaller than processes for manufacturing carbon fibres. PORSCHE | HEAD 106 Series skis have no top sheet, which means that the natural fibres used inside can be seen, creating a fascinating look that combines aesthetics with technology. Thanks to their innovative construction and athletic design, these skis find the perfect line - on and off the piste - on every turn.
The skis are built in Austria and are available in lengths of 184 and 177 cm. The 184 cm ski has a sidecut of 131 - 106 - 127 mm and a radius of 17.8 m. The recommended retail price of the PORSCHE | HEAD 106 Series is EUR 1,700.
