New Chair For Mount Bohemia

Mount Bohemia will install a new triple chairlift to replace their aging frontside lift. They say:

"Mount Bohemia is excited to announce that we have reached an agreement with Skytrac Lift Corporation( a division of Poma lifts) to install a new triple chairlift. The new lift will replace the current front side chairlift in the same location.

"The new lift will be built in three phases with the Bottom terminal being installed next summer followed by the top terminal the following year and then the chairs and towers .

"The new bottom terminal will be operational with the current chairlift starting next fall. These build outs have been done by Skytrac all over the country. In a very short time Bohemia will have a completely brand new triple chairlift that will increase uphill capacity by roughly 50%.

"It will reduce our maintenance season on the new lift to four weeks allowing us to run the new chairlift for scenic lift rides all summer and fall.

""Bohemia would especially like to thank Ryan Leavitt for the idea of working with Skytrac as well as @vern.barber @bunde_svan58 @jeff.wolford.50,  Jeff Mcmahon, Sean fields  @timpfister.mobile  @ross.stevens.3323 and @cskylling67 for long term strategic planning on the new lift'"

The current lift is a Riblet, built in 2001 with a base station at 233m and top station at 445m. It's 700m in length with a capacity of 1500/hour running at 2.5m/s and a ride time of 5.10 mins.

Mount Bohemia operates two chairlifts, and offers the 2nd highest vertical drop in the Midwest behind Terry Peak in the Black Hills of South Dakota, and ahead of Lutsen Mountains, located in the Sawtooth Mountains of northern Minnesota. The resort has 95 runs and first opened for business in 2000.

Mount Bohemia does not operate any snow making equipment and relies on its 250 to 300 in (6.4–7.6 m) year average of lake effect snow, the most seen at any resort in the Midwest. Because runs are not groomed, Mount Bohemia is not an appropriate resort for beginners. It offers only single and double black diamond level runs; there are no beginner or  intermediate trails.
