New Carinthian Ski Pass Launches
Advance sales for the 2024/25 Carinthian ski pass will start at 9:09 a.m. on September 9, 2024. More attractive, more digital and better suited to buyers' wishes than ever before, the extremely affordable ticket is available to all ski enthusiasts in the country. "One and a half months before the planned start of the Carinthian ski season on the Mölltal Glacier on October 26, 2024, the Carinthian cable car industry is presenting the Carinthian ski pass as a sensationally attractively priced invitation to all frequent skiers to enjoy as many exciting days of skiing as possible on Carinthia's ski slopes," emphasizes Manuel Kapeller-Hopfgartner, head of the cable car specialist group in the Carinthian Chamber of Commerce.
Was and is the Carinthian ski pass
"Our buyers have always talked about the Carinthian ski pass. The fact that we, as the cable car industry, have referred to our season ticket as the 'Top Ski Pass Carinthia' in recent years has hardly been noticed. From now on, the Carinthian ski pass has its original name again. Clear, simple and conveys what it is - Austria's only ski pass that covers all the ski areas in an entire federal state. In addition, the Carinthian ski pass - as before - allows access to six East Tyrolean ski areas," emphasises Hansjörg Pflauder. Pflauder, who is the chairman of the Bad Kleinkirchheim mountain railways, is responsible for the management of the Carinthian ski pass together with Christian Krisper (CEO of the Nassfeld mountain railways). "In addition to the name 'Carinthian ski pass', we have also sharpened the look and made the snowflake the central graphic element as a symbol that unites all ski pass buyers and all ski areas," explains Pflauder.
Unlimited skiing fun - with one ticket
"Unlimited - that is the term that our buyers used particularly frequently in connection with the Carinthian ski pass in a survey conducted last winter," says Pflauder, who, together with his marketing team, is coordinating the comprehensive further development of the visual and digital market presence, including the new, easy-to-use web shop for the Carinthian ski pass.
30 ski areas - one ski pass - many tailor-made ticket variants
"The Carinthian Ski Pass is an invitation to all Carinthians to enjoy skiing on an unlimited number of days during the season and thus at an unbeatable price per day," explains the Carinthian Ski Pass Managing Director. The attractiveness is further increased by existing and new package variants tailored to the buyer's needs. The packages for families, grandparents and patchwork families include an additional discount of up to 25 percent compared to the individual Carinthian Ski Pass prices for adults, teenagers and children.
Super-cheap packages. Now also for grandparents & patchwork families
Tried and tested and new ski pass packages will be offered for the 2024/25 winter. As usual, there is the partner package for two adults and the popular parent & child/teenager packages, which, as already mentioned, are up to 25 percent below the individual ski pass prices in Carinthia. These packages are intended to support the cable car industry for families with children. "New are packages for patchwork families based on clear guidelines. And under the motto '1 ski pass. Unlimited grandparent time', all parent-child packages, called grandparent packages, are also available for grandparents with child grandchildren. In this way, we are meeting the great desire of buyers that grandparents who go skiing with their child grandchildren enjoy the same price advantage as parents," says Skipass Managing Director Pflauder happily. A total of 14 packages for 1 or 2 parents with 1 to 3 children and/or 1 to 3 young people are available to choose from. And there is a bonus for multiple children: from the fifth person onwards, children even get a free ski pass.

The Carinthian ski pass (individual ski passes and packages) is now available at the lowest price from September 9th at 9:09 a.m. to November 1st, 2024 with an extra online bonus in the online super presale. The new, modern, easy-to-use Carinthian ski pass web shop is available for this purpose.
Online super pre-sale prices (winter 2024/25) with online bonus: EUR 742 (adults), EUR 557 (young people) and EUR 371 (children). The online bonus also applies to all packages.
The classic advance sales at the cable car companies' open sales points are still available. This also starts on September 9th and lasts until December 8th, 2024.

"Every ski pass holder can use their ticket to ski for 204 possible days between the end of October and May. Ski pass holders actually enjoy the slopes for an average of 21 days. And from the 12th day onwards they ski for free," says Hansjörg Pflauder, summing up the unbeatable price/performance ratio.
Despite this enormous performance, the price increase compared to the previous winter of 2023/24 is moderate at 7 percent. In comparison, inflation in 2023 was 7.8 percent and the last wage increase in the cable car industry was 7.5 percent.
The Carinthian ski pass & the smaller ski areas in the country
"For us smaller ski areas, the Carinthian ski pass is very important in order to bring additional skiers to our ski areas and to retain our own frequent skiers," explains Alexandra Bresztowanszky, Managing Director of the Hochrindl cable cars. "At Hochrindl, we observe that many of our guests buy the Carinthian ski pass in order to ski often with us and a few times in the other nearby Carinthian ski areas," she says, emphasizing the ski pass's guest retention function. The situation is similar for the most ambitious beginners and those returning to skiing, who enjoy the clear slopes on Hochrindl and subsequently want to visit other ski areas without restrictions.
"Overall, I think the Carinthian ski pass is an important motivation factor for doing sports in the fresh air in winter. This applies to adults and children alike. With a ski pass, you can go skiing for just a few hours, quickly after a short day at school in the afternoon or when the weather forecast is not so good, and get out and about in nature," emphasises Bresztowanszky.
77 percent of skiers absolutely satisfied with the price/performance ratio
"Three large groups of guests can be found on Carinthia's ski slopes: Carinthian ski pass holders who often head to the slopes during the winter and who benefit from our unrivalled price/performance ratio. Tourist guests with multi-day tickets. And skiers who use one of the numerous individual card products - from point and hourly tickets to half-day and day tickets and cards that can be used hourly over one or two seasons, to season tickets for a ski area," says specialist group chairman Manuel Kapeller-Hopfgartner, describing the different groups of skiers. "It is no coincidence that 77 percent of guests (source: Samon - Satisfaction Monitor Cable Cars) are absolutely satisfied with our price/performance ratio," says Manuel Kapeller-Hopfgartner.
Ski pass sponsorship for Carinthia’s students
"We pay a lot of attention to the next generation of skiers, whom we support in many different ways. Each ski area individually, for example, through cooperation with regional ski clubs, and we all together, including through our sponsorship of Carinthian schoolchildren," says Kapeller-Hopfgartner, mentioning another initiative by the local cable car industry.
The Carinthian ski areas will again be sponsoring the Carinthian ski school campaign in winter 2024/25 to enable ski-loving kids as well as young beginners to enjoy exciting days of skiing. Primary school students receive a ski pass for a 3-day ski course for EUR 7 per day and middle school students receive a ski pass for a 5-day ski course for EUR 11 per day.
Who are the Carinthian ski pass buyers and what are their wishes?
"Last winter we dealt intensively with our customers, their wishes and needs, but also with their criticism," emphasises Kärntner Skipass managing director Hansjörg Pflauder. Among other things, the question was asked why people buy the Kärntner Skipass. The most frequently cited reasons for buying are: "It's worth it", "The large selection of possible ski areas" and "A good opportunity to spend leisure time with the family". "Being able to go up the mountain for a few hours in the afternoon" and the "flexibility of being able to choose from a wide range of ski areas depending on the snow conditions and weather" are further arguments.
At the same time, the skiers mentioned numerous wishes: "A more flexible definition of family" - this was taken into account with the grandparent packages and the packages for patchwork families. Or that "it should also be possible to buy the ski pass digitally". Thanks to the new Carinthian ski pass online shop, this will be a reality from September 9, 2024.
Other interesting findings from the survey are:
53.5 percent of ski pass users are female and 46.5 percent are male.
74.8 percent of ski pass holders have children.
20 percent are holidaymakers in Carinthia or have a secondary residence.
70.3 percent have purchased one of the partner or family packages.
92.1 percent of all buyers purchased the ski pass at a reduced price as part of one of the advance booking promotions.
It was also shown that buyer loyalty is very high: 52.6 percent of all buyers have already bought the Carinthian ski pass six times or more.
Carinthian ski pass - also as a multi-day ski pass for holiday guests
In addition to the season ski pass, the Carinthian ski pass was and is also available as a multi-day ticket, which can be used in all 30 ski areas during the selected period of validity (1.5 to 21 days). Price example: 6-day Carinthian ski pass from EUR 323 (adults), from EUR 243 (young people) and from EUR 162 (children).
