New 8-seater Eibergbahn For SkiWelt Scheffau

In 1992 there was no 8-seater chairlift, but the Scheffau mountain railway once again proved its reputation as a visionary leading company by building the two 4-seater Eiberg chairlifts next to each other. It soon became apparent that the Eiberg lifts represented an important link in the SkiWelt and would require truly high transport capacities. The two Eiberg lifts not only had the highest frequencies in the SkiWelt, they were also always energy efficient. If not needed, one of the two lifts could be taken out of service at any time.

SkiWelt skiers used the Eiberg lifts around 1.3 million times per winter season, so that after 32 years they can boast an incredible 43,000,000 rides. The two 4-seater chairlifts are not going into their well-deserved retirement, however. Still in very good technical condition and excellently maintained by the SkiWelt Scheffau team, the cable car was sold overseas in its entirety and will begin its second life there after a general overhaul. We will let you know as soon as it goes into operation.

The new 8-seater Eibergbahn – incredibly strong. Incredibly sustainable.

The new 8-seater Eibergbahn is being built on the same route and will be the world's most powerful detachable 8-seater chairlift with a dynamic transport capacity of 1,700 to 4,570 people per hour. It has a maximum travel speed of 5 m/s, is equipped with seat heating and deliberately does not have a hood for wind and resource-related reasons. In the interests of energy efficiency and resource conservation, a variable chair insertion of at least 16 chairs will be possible as required. A centerpiece of the new Eibergbahn will be the new 140 kWP PV system on the roof of the Eibergbahn valley station. This can generate around 50% of the annual energy required. Another milestone in the complete energy efficiency of the SkiWelt mountain railways.

"We have been planning the new Eibergbahn for many years. But only now, with the help of Doppelmayr, the renowned Vorarlberg cable car manufacturer, have we managed to achieve the required transport capacity and thus match the performance of the previous parallel fixed-grip 4-seater cable cars. We are very excited about the new, technically innovative 8-seater chairlift," says Andreas Haselsberger, Managing Director of Bergbahn Scheffau.
