National Backcountry Ski Day - March 4th

On March 4th every year, skiers and riders around the country get together to enjoy a day in the backcountry. Backcountry skiing is one of the fastest growing sports in the outdoor industry and we want to ensure that everyone is having fun and staying safe.

"We make a line of ski wax that helps people get out into the backcountry and thus felt a responsibility to promote safe backcountry practices" said Peter Arlein, CEO of mountainFLOW eco-wax and one of the founders of National Backcountry Ski Day. "Backcountry skiing is exploding right now, which is great to see, but we want to make sure that everyone is following safe avalanche protocols"

There are a handful of planned events happening around the country and organizers of individual groups are encouraged to emphasize avalanche awareness and to approach terrain that is manageable by skiers and riders of all skill levels.

Participants are encouraged to post on social media about their adventures using the hash tag #NationalBackcountrySkiDay.
