Mt Rose Installs Sunkid Dual Conveyor Belt With Capacity Of 3,500 Persons Per Hour

Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe (USA): Installation of the first dual person conveyor belt in North America has made it possible to master the masses trying to get into the beginners' area at Mt. Rose easily now. The conveyor belts with a total length of 288 metres (976 ft) are powered by a 22 kW motor each, enabling them to transport more than 3,500 persons per hour. The belt width of 750 mm and the Duplex Evolus gallery ensure additional comfort for the users. Outside of the operating time, electrical roller gates protect the entry and exit area from wind and weather.

In order to withstand extreme wind speeds of up to 160 km/h, the two conveyor belts were installed on powerful concrete carriers and the duplex gallery was fastened in the foundations with additional epoxy anchors. The two parallel conveyor belts can be controlled flexibly and independently of each other. One belt is running during the week, when there is little activity. The second conveyor belt is switched on additionally on the weekend or if there is a great number of visitors. This not only avoids queues, but users are also happy to be able to stand side by side and talk.

Gallery Duplex was built over 3 days using day and night shifts to work 16-20 hours per day. The result is impressive. The sides protected by polycarbonate panes offer an unlimited view of the landscape and combine with the lateral wood planks for an atmospheric integration into the environment. The entire system meets all the required safety standards, among others with four emergency exits every 30 metres. It was approved by the authorities according to the US standard ANSI B77.1.
