Mt Buller Mt Stirling Ready For Summer

Mt Buller is embracing the official start of a long cool summer and celebrating the arrival of December with a weekend of walking, riding, bike shuttling, disc golfing and… snowboarding! [No, not a typo.

The Summer Shred Sesh at Mt Buller on Saturday 2 December combines the best of both seasons.  A terrain park for the snow shredders is popping up on Bourke Street for the day while the mountain bikers will be shredding on the bike trails, the pump track and the giant air bag in the village.   Whichever way you prefer your adrenaline delivered – it’s all covered!

“The Shred Sesh was a smash last year so it’s great to have it back and start summer with a dollop of snow as well as all the green season activities we’ll be enjoying up here in the coming months,” explained Mark Bennetts, COO Mt Buller Mt Stirling resort management  “The joy-per-square-inch that was had on the snow last December made it a no-brainer to do it again.  There are passionate locals counting the days to the event, the snow pile is growing and the Mt Buller Parks team are rising to the challenge of creating this unique chance to ride a terrain park in Australia in summer.”

Alongside the snow experience, the giant airbag will see MTB/BMX crew sending it large to celebrate the official opening of the full mountain bike season and Blue Dirt Shuttles operating pick ups from Tirol and Mirimbah.

With the full network of trails open for mountain biking All Terrain Cycles and Blue Dirt have ‘summer mode’ engaged with products and services in the village including rental, spares, expert advice, shuttles and clinics to round out a complete riding experience.

NEW this summer season is the “Local’s Day Out” shuttle service that makes getting between Mansfield and Mt Buller a breeze.  Neil Geddes from Busfleet explains the new offering, “visitors and locals will have the flexibility to ride their bike one way and get a ride back, wine tasters can sip without worrying about who’s driving and young locals wanting to hit the Mt Buller trails can do so affordably without Mum or Dad’s taxi having to take them up and back”.  Busfleet will have a mini-coach and bike trailer regularly connecting Mansfield and the mountains with services offering pick up and drop off in each direction at four convenient times on weekends and holidays.

In addition to biking and snow sliding there is trampoline and climbing fun in the Buller Air Zone, guided walks, free disc golf and plenty to explore and enjoy as summer in the high country gets into full swing.  For a stroll down memory lane the National Alpine Museum of Australia will be open.

Mirimbah Store’s kitchen is getting open for the season and locals are delighted at the new liquor licence making a cold beer a refreshing highlight at the end of a Delatite trail lap along with tasty options to take across to the park for summer picnics.

A whole new way to explore Mt Buller is coming in 2024 – if you have a sense of adventure and a head for heights, you’re going to love it… It’s an Australian first and you’ll discover a whole new side to the mountain.
