Mountain Planet Trade Show Is Looking Toward The Future

From April 16 to 18, 2024, ALPEXPO Grenoble in France will host the 26th edition of Mountain Planet, the largest global trade show dedicated to innovation in mountain development. This year marks the 50th anniversary of this must-attend event that has established itself over the years for professionals in the sector.

Mountain Planet serves as a key international hub, offering pathways for thoughtful discussion and exchange on the upcoming challenges within the mountain industry and tourism sector. Over three days, various players from the mountain ecosystem will gather over 50,000 m² of exhibition space in search of information, products, and innovations. It's a field of inspiration where participants can share their experiences and ponder how they might adapt the best ideas to their own mountain territories.

The program will include about fifty events with the participation of speakers and lecturers from diverse horizons and backgrounds. As every year, the much-anticipated International Report on Snow and Mountain Tourism will be presented, authored by Swiss expert Laurent Vanat, which lists and analyzes global data from more than 2,000 resorts across 68 countries. This report deciphers investments, attendance, and evolutions of resorts and offers an in-depth analysis of the current state of mountains.

The trade show also organizes three panel discussions on varied subjects with international speakers and lecturers. The first will address the new data superpowers, the second will focus on customer loyalty or the challenge of hyper-satisfaction, and the third will discuss CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility).

New for 2024, this year will be marked by the introduction of dedicated spaces with:

  • A startup village highlighting entrepreneurs who will present their innovative solutions.
  • A transitions village to welcome specialized and innovative companies around mobility, energy, resource management, and waste.
  • A dedicated drone village will also make its debut. This versatile tool can, among other things, allow for more efficient resource optimization, play a crucial role in rescue operations, and also observe mountain vegetation in the summer.
  • A village focused on sustainable construction and renovation.
  • A space on the circular economy.

The 2024 edition will also offer an opportunity for trophy awards, The Mountain Planet Trophies: 50 years of innovation, in partnership with Montagne Leaders. Awards will be given in various categories such as mobility, biodiversity and sustainable development, diversification actions, tourism, digitalization, and the overall customer experience with the Jury's favorite. These trophies will reward the work of companies present at the expo through the recent achievements of their clients, operators and managers of ski areas, communities in mountain territories, in France or internationally.

To enhance the value of exhibitors for visitors, the Mountain Planet team also introduces seven thematic routes. They will be offered to visitors to facilitate their visit throughout the show and allow them to optimize their visiting time. Thus, each visitor will have the opportunity to select the booths that correspond to the theme or themes they are looking for. Registration is free, and the paths available and downloadable at www.mountain-planet.com

Focus on the 7 paths.

  • Management and maintenance of ski areas
  • How to keep mountains alive, aside from skiing?
  • Ropeway transportation
  • Natural hazards - viability - development
  • Planning new information and communication technologies serving mountains
  • Resource management - environment - sustainable development
  • Architecture, urban planning, and building renovation

As every year, the Innovation Book magazine, which was launched in 2020, will highlight innovations, whether technological or social, current sustainable trends to better approach the mountain of tomorrow, and offer an exclusive glimpse into those to come. It is now a must—both in France and internationally—that presents a condensed collection of innovative ideas for the mountain sector.
