Mountain Equipment Supports Martin Moran Foundation Mountain Adventure Programme
Mountain Equipment has announced its support of the Martin Moran Foundation, a charitable organisation
launched by the family of British mountaineer Martin Moran. The Foundation supports 16 to 18-year-olds
from diverse backgrounds encouraging them to pursue adventure in the mountains by running fully funded
expeditions in Scotland. Mountain Equipment is proud to offer both financial support and clothing for the
participants to keep them safe and dry on the mountains.
On 23rd October 2021, the Martin Moran Foundation will be taking the first group of young adults, who
may not otherwise have the support available, on a seven-day programme in the Scottish Highlands. The
trip will comprise mountain sports such as climbing and scrambling plus skill-building. It will be led by
highly qualified British Mountain Guides and Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructors. With the
help of leaders in schools and youth groups, Martin Moran Foundation can offer the programme to those
who will benefit the most from the experience.
Hazel Moran, Director of Communications for the Martin Moran Foundation, says: ľThe Mountain
Adventure Programme is available to young people from across the UK who have shown a spark for
adventure but are facing barriers when accessing the great outdoors. We are delighted to be offering this
opportunity to eight teenagers, both male and female, from a variety of backgrounds starting this October.
Each participant will go home with top quality clothing and equipment kindly donated by Mountain
Equipment plus plenty of knowledge and skills that allo them to continue their outdoor pursuits
Martins family set up the foundation to celebrate his extraordinary life and to carry forward his belief that the joy of mountaineering should be an experience open to everyone.
Dedicated to promoting the positive impact of mountaun adventure on young people's mental health and
wellbeing, the Martin Moran Foundation provides all-expenses-paid training programmes for 16 to 18-
year-olds across the UK who are passionate about the outdoors.
