Mount Sunapee Announces Capital Improvements For Winter 2019/2020

As part of Vail Resorts’ two-year, $35 million commitment to investments across the four resorts acquired in 2018: Mount Sunapee, in New Hampshire, Okemo, in Vermont, Crested Butte, in Colorado, and Stevens Pass, in Washington State, the Company has executed the first phase of capital improvements. Skiers and riders visiting Mount Sunapee will benefit from a number of upgrades that have taken place during the summer months.

Snowmaking and Grooming

Mount Sunapee’s dedication to providing a superlative snow surface continues with upgrades to the snowmaking infrastructure on the mountain and the addition of two Prinoth grooming machines. Mount Sunapee has installed new snowmaking pipe and updated valve activation for more strategic and specific snowmaking capabilities in its South Peak area. In January, the Mount Sunapee snowmaking crew was named the winner of the 2018-2019 “HKD I AM a Snowmaker” contest. The competition showcased six snowmaking teams from resorts across North America.

Rentals

With its protected South Peak Learning Area, Mount Sunapee is an ideal resort for learning how to ski and snowboard. To facilitate a better experience for its guests, Mount Sunapee has acquired new racks for skis and boots that will accommodate the addition of new rental equipment for Ski School. All children, 12 and under, who take a ski or snowboard lesson will enjoy the benefit of collecting their equipment in the Ski School building.

Enhanced Employee Experience

Plumbing and facilities upgrades to Mount Sunapee’s Maintenance Building will benefit staff from lift maintenance, lift operations, base operations, shuttle busses and the terrain park.

EpicMix

Starting this winter season, Mount Sunapee is launching EpicMix. Skiers and riders can download the free iPhone or Android app and access a variety of features from their mobile phones. They can check snow conditions, view web cams and trail maps, track vert, earn digital pins, and even track Ski & Snowboard School progress and accomplishments – and share those achievements with friends and family on Facebook and Twitter.

Season Passes

New Northeast College Pass

For $399, a new Northeast College Pass offers unlimited, unrestricted access to Mount Sunapee and Okemo, as well as unlimited access with holiday restrictions to Stowe. As a bonus, college students who purchase the Northeast College Pass receive six “Ski With A Friend” discounted tickets. College Pass purchasers must present a current college photo ID and official college school schedule indicating student name and proof of at least 12 credit hours (undergraduate) or 6 hours (graduate) per semester for the 2018/2019 school year. College Pass holders must be enrolled at the time of their first day skiing or riding. 

Epic for Everyone

New for the 2019-2020 season, Vail Resorts launched the Epic Day Pass, allowing guests to ski world-class resorts for less than lift-ticket window prices. The Epic Day Pass is perfect for those skiers and riders who may not need the unlimited skiing offered by traditional season passes. Guests can also lower their cost per day by adding more days – up to seven for the season. For guests looking to ski more days in a season, the Epic Pass and Epic Local Pass continue to offer the best value and variety for unlimited skiing and riding.
