More Than 1 Million Guests Visit Jungfraujoch – Top Of Europe
Jungfraubahn Holding AG announces in an ad hoc announcement in accordance with Article 53 of the Listing Rules that in 2024, with 1,058,600 guests on the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe, the million mark was exceeded for the sixth time since 2015. In the adventure mountains, the First and Harderbahn as well as the Lauterbrunnen-Mürren cable car recorded new record numbers. The start of the 2024/2025 winter season was the best in history.
In 2024, 1,058,600 guests visited the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe. The 5.1 percent increase in frequency compared to the previous year is due to group trips, which are back to pre-coronavirus levels. At the same time, there has been a further increase in guests from the USA, India and Southeast Asia. Visitors from China and Japan are still around 50 percent behind pre-crisis levels.
Adventure mountains with record frequencies
Once again, the adventure mountains recorded record numbers of visitors. With 878,200 ascents and descents, the Harderbahn was able to exceed its peak from 2023 by 6.4 percent. This also applies to the Firstbahn, which recorded a total of 926,900 visitors, an increase of 10.0 percent compared to the previous year. The Lauterbrunnen-Mürren mountain railway (BLM) counted 507,200 guests, an increase of 12.2 percent compared to 2023.
In 2024, the Eiger Express carried 2,107,400 passengers on the route between Grindelwald Terminal and the Eiger Glacier, the second time since 2023 that more than 2 million guests have traveled.
The 2024/2025 winter sports season started on November 30, 2024 with weekend operations, and winter sports have been operating continuously since December 14. When the Top4 ski pass was pre-sold (partner offer from Adelboden-Lenk, Gstaad, Jungfrau Ski Region and Meiringen-Hasliberg), around 33,000 Top4 ski passes were sold at the pre-sale price, which is higher than the number for the 2023/2024 winter season with over 32,000 Top4 ski passes.
From the start of the season to December 31, 2024, the Jungfrau Ski Region registered 218,500 skier visits. Compared to the same period a year ago, this represents an increase of 5.1 percent and is therefore the best start to the season in history. The Jungfrau Ski Region is a cooperation product in which the Jungfrau Railway Group holds a sales share of over 60 percent.
