More Apprentices Than Ever Start Their Careers At Doppelmayr

Wolfurt-based ropeway manufacturer Doppelmayr has been training skilled personnel for the implementation of international projects since the very beginnings of the company. 2024 saw the highest number of youngsters in the company’s 130-year history begin their apprenticeships with the global market leader. In total, 48 new apprentices joined the Doppelmayr team as of September 2.

Wolfurt is home to the Doppelmayr Group’s biggest production plant. This is where ropeway installations destined for locations around the globe are developed and manufactured. When it comes to implementing these projects, competent professionals are essential. That is why apprentice training is a vital institution for the company. For the new apprenticeship intake, Doppelmayr attracted 48 young talents who begin their training in seven different trades in September 2024.

“Further development is very much a key topic for us,” says Doppelmayr managing director Gerhard Gassner. “That applies not only to our products but also to us as a company. That’s why we continuously invest in our apprentice training to make sure our apprentices are given the best possible conditions for their development. We’re very proud of the fact that this engagement pays off and that so many youngsters have decided on Doppelmayr.”

“We’ve built up a great team who are totally dedicated to looking after the apprentices,” reports Doppelmayr’s training manager Richard Kohler. “Ensuring the right fit on a human level is an important success factor. The taster days are great for doing that. The apprentices get to know us, the workplace and the company very well. They get a valuable insight into what they can expect. And we also get to check out whether candidates are right for us and how we can best support them.”

The induction days at the beginning of the apprenticeships have proved their worth for some time now. This year too, the first-year apprentices took part in a varied program on the Hochjoch and Golm. Their parents joined them on the first day and also gained valuable new impressions of apprenticeships at Doppelmayr. Needless to say, trips on lift installations were important items on the agenda.

Apprenticeship Excellence 2027

Ever since the Apprenticeship Excellence certification was launched in 1997, Doppelmayr has held this quality label. Once again, this title was conferred on Doppelmayr in 2024 by the Provincial Government, the Economic Chamber and the Chamber of Labor. It reflects the effort a company invests in the high quality of its training and remains valid for three years.
