Meribel Sets Up For World Cup Finals
One year before the World Championships 2023, Méribel, will organize the finals of the Men's and Women's Alpine Skiing World Cup, from 18 to 20 March 2022.
After the 2022 Winter Olympic, the world’s best alpine skiers will be in Méribel to compete in technical events. The Savoyard resort will be at the centre of the ski world to award the Crystal Globes to the winners and announce the general classification of the Men's and Women's World Cup.
Located in the heart of Les 3 Vallées, the largest connected ski area in the world, Méribel is renowned for its know-how, its world-class slopes, and its enthusiasm for competition. It is
why it has a run specially designed for alpine skiing races: the Roc de Fer.
The Roc de Fer became famous during the 1992 winter Olympics (Albertville) when the Women Alpine Skiing competitions took place on it. Méribel didn’t host any international competitions for 20 years, until the Women’s Downhill World Cup in 2013. Two years later the legendary run was used for the finals of the Men's and Women's Alpine Skiing World Cup.
Almost 2.5 km long with a negative elevation of up to 850m, the Roc de Fer is a very technical run where skiers need to adapt their pace as they ski down, before finishing on a very steep part. It will a first for many skiers who were too young to participate in 2013.
