Melzer & Hopfner Launches New Era 12pax Nordbahn In Hinterglemm

A legend says goodbye, but the future of skiing in Hinterglemm is already in full swing! After 35 years of loyal service, the Zwölfer Nordbahn was sent into well-deserved retirement. But this farewell does not mark the end, but rather the beginning of a new era of skiing in the region.

THE NEW BUILDING OF THE 12ER NORD

The 12er NORD cable car project, which is scheduled to be completed before 2025, promises a significant improvement in comfort. The existing cable car with standing gondolas from 1989 will be replaced by a modern 10-person monocable gondola, which is similar in design to the 12-person KOGEL cable car. With a rapid transport rate of 2,600 people per hour, the climb is a real pleasure. The valley station will be moved into the valley to ensure even more comfortable and safer access to the Hochalmbahn and 12er NORD stations.

Another mosaic of this ambitious project was already built last year in the form of the new ski bridge over the state road. This bridge not only makes access to the stations easier, but also requires a quicker decision: continue on the Skicircus circuit or swing straight back into the valley via the 12er north run?

OUR COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY AND FUTURE-PROOF INFRASTRUCTURE

The FIS Alpine Ski World Championships 2025 are approaching and the Skicircus will once again be the scene of an atmospheric winter spectacle. The focus is on the concept “One mountain – all competitions” and Melzer & Hopfner are proud to make a significant contribution to this.

From the overall planning to the construction, Melzer & Hopfner is significantly involved in the implementation of this cable car and bridge project.
