Melzer & Hopfner Consult On Karrenseilbahn Base Station

The Dornbirner cable car railway needs a refresh. the restructuring or new building is to be realized in 2025.

As part of this, the valley station building for the Karren cable car will be almost completely rebuilt. In order to obtain a maximum of creativity and ideas with regard to the design of the valley station building, Melzer & Hopfner developed a structural engineering concept and managed the expert procedure based on it.

The architects Innauer and Matt emerged as the winners of the process. The new valley station building will be visually based on the existing building and designed in a modern and functional way. The construction will result in significant improvements for the passengers and the internal processes for the cable car and the panorama restaurant will be significantly optimized. At the same time, after a good 25 years, the Karren cable car is being technically updated. Means that the entire electrical equipment is tested and is therefore again state-of-the-art.
