Max Burkhart Dies Following a Crash At Lake Louise
The alpine family is once again affected by a tragic loss. Max Burkhart passed away yesterday in Canada, after a crash in the Nor-Am Cup race at Lake Louise. The 17 year-old was a member of Ski Club Partenkirchen in Germany and attended Sugar Bowl Academy in California.
Burkhart, 17, was preparing for the Nor-Am Cup at the ski resort but suffered a horrendous incident on December 5 when he crashed into safety netting. According to the Calgary Herald, medics “worked for nearly 30 minutes to stabilize the youth before he was airlifted to Foothills Hospital in Calgary in a serious, life-threatening condition.”

Alpine Canada and Alberta Alpine are deeply saddened to report that on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 during a Nor-Am Cup race at Lake Louise, Max Burkhart crashed into safety netting.
Emergency personnel responded immediately and the athlete was airlifted via STARS to the hospital. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts to save him, he passed away on Wednesday, December 6.
