Markus Wolf Leaving The Weisse Arena Group
Markus Wolf is leaving the Weisse Arena Group at the end of his fourth year as CEO in mid-December 2023. His term of office was marked by major challenges, be it the pandemic, the looming energy crisis, massive inflation, the consequences of the Ukraine war or even how to deal with them of strokes of fate such as the loss of an apprentice due to a tragic accident at work.
The Weisse Arena Group survived these difficult times very well, even posting record numbers twice. Now that we have arrived in the post-pandemic reality, it is about positioning the company for the future. The different opinions that emerged in the course of these discussions between the Board of Directors and Markus Wolf about the way in which the WAG should be managed in the future could not ultimately be brought to a common denominator.
Wolf comments: “Unfortunately, it can happen that people cannot agree on which structures and values are the right ones for the future of a company. Against this background and out of respect for the ownership, I have drawn the consequences and am terminating my employment relationship.”
Reto Gurtner, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Weisse Arena Group, regrets the decision, but respects it. “We are deeply grateful to Markus for his tireless commitment and valuable contribution over the last almost four years and wish him only the best for his future private and professional career.”
The operational management of the Weisse Arena Group will be taken over by Reto Gurtner on an interim basis following the departure of Markus Wolf.
