Madeline, Telluride’s Only Forbes Five-Star Resort To Host Third Annual ‘Alpine Cookout’

On Independence Day Weekend, Madeline Hotel & Residences, Auberge Resorts Collection, Telluride’s ultra-luxe alpine resort, welcomes the return of their Third Annual Alpine Cookout on July 1. Part of Auberge Resorts Collection’s Taste of Auberge, a culinary journey bringing together exclusive chef partnerships and restaurant pop-ups through 2023, the Alpine Cookout includes specialty curated, mouthwatering menus that define the mountain town of Telluride as one of the world’s top cuisine-led destinations.

Honoring the spirit of Southwestern fare, the cookout draws visiting famed chefs from the four corners and beyond including Pitmaster and CEO/owner of Meat Church Chef Matt Pittman, Salt Lake City celebrity Chef Viet Pham, Texas all-star Chef Dean Fearing, collaborating with the Madeline Culinary tour de force including Lonnie Shepard, Juan Carlos Flores Valles, Aldo Duran, and Executive Chef Bill Greenwood, who will be opening his own restaurant, Greenwood’s Ridgway, this summer serving rustic Colorado cuisine.

“We are thrilled for the return of our Third Annual Alpine Cookout, bringing together a notable roster of chefs to Telluride and our Madeline family,” says Bryan Woody, general manager of Madeline Hotel & Residences, Auberge Resorts Collection. “The Southwest’s colorful epicurean culture and Telluride’s community offerings paint the perfect canvas for skilled techniques and local ingredients to create one-of-a-kind meals. Through the famed chef collaboration in partnership with the acclaimed Executive Chef Bill Greenwood, we look forward to visitors savoring Telluride’s culinary delights with a Southwestern twist.”

Set to take place in Reflection Plaza, located adjacent to the resort in Village Center, from 11:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. visiting chefs will showcase their master expertise while using the bold and versatile ingredients of the four corner states. Epicurean enthusiasts and admirers can experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to indulge in renowned dining experiences and high-class regional cuisine.

“When I think of summer excursions and mountain merriment, there is nothing that compares to the Alpine Cookout experience,” says the “Godfather of Southwestern Cuisine,” Chef Dean Faring. “Foodies, travelers and locals alike will not want to be anywhere else over the Fourth of July weekend other than Madeline Hotel & Residences, Auberge Resorts Collection, where esteemed chefs will be serving top-notch food.”

Singer-songwriter and indie-folk musical performances feature LVDY, the Colorado-based duo Kathleen Hooper and Aubrey Mable with powerful melodies and harmonies that speak to the senses and find inspiration in the beauty of the outdoors. Ten percent of ticket sales will be donated to INDIGENOUS LED, a project of The MICA Group, founded on the vision of a future that embraces a renewed world of connection and healing, and shapes this by amplifying the power of relational conservation to protect, renew, heal, and celebrate the connection to land and more-than-human relatives.

Culinary menu highlights include a new take on Nashville-style hot chicken with a warm sauce of crème fraiche, soft herbs and trout roe by Chef Viet Pham; chicken fried Texas quail on jalapeño cream corn and pickled okra helmed by Chef Dean Fearing; white lily buttermilk biscuit with smoked duck leg confit and Brunswick stew by Greenwood’s Chef Bill Greenwood. Additional menu items include Rocky Mountain elk chili from Madeline Hotel & Residences’ Chef Lonnie; Texas pastrami reuben melt by Chef Matt Pittman.

In addition to the epicurean experience, the resort has partnered with Crossbow Leather for a dedicated custom hat bar. Designed, created and produced directly in Telluride, the brand is offering a pop-up personalized hat shaping and decorating experience featuring high quality fur felt, Palm leaf hats and leather goods. Guests can create their own unique accessory to wear around town and to take home, a wearable memory of time spent in Telluride.

There will be a variety of family friendly activities throughout the day to keep everyone engaged, including alpine flower crowns with FP Movement, some fun surprises from Lucchese, Veuve Clicquot, Ardbeg, and much more.
