Luke Bodensteiner Joins Alf Engen Ski Museum Board

Luke Bodensteiner, a world-class cross-country competitor, coach, and general manager of the Soldier Hollow Legacy Foundation has been named to the board of trustees of the Alf Engen Ski Museum Foundation.

The Alf Engen Ski Museum Foundation was established in 1989 with a mission to preserve the rich history of skiing in the Intermountain Region. They strive to provide a world-class facility which highlights the many contributions made in ski area development, athletic competition, snow safety, ski innovation and ski teaching methods.

"Luke's extensive and contemporary knowledge of competitive skiing internationally and locally will be important additions to the museum board," said Ron Steele, board chairman, in announcing Bodensteiner's appointment. "His expertise in the administrative arenas on all aspects of skiing will give our board new perspectives that will help the museum enhance the visitor experience. He has keen interest in preserving the skiing history of the Intermountain region and this is a plus for our board," Steele added.

A native of Wisconsin, Bodensteiner brings with him an impressive background. He was an NCAA champion in classic cross-country skiing at the University of Utah, while he was also skiing under the banner of the U.S. Olympic Ski Team. Later, his passion for the sport led him to become the U.S. Ski Team's Vice President of Athletics and later its Chief of Sport where he oversaw the athletic programs for the U.S. Cross-Country team for three Olympic Winter Games. In addition, Bodensteiner served as a trustee of the Salt Lake Olympic Organizing Committee for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. From that vantage point, he helped to establish Utah's Soldier Hollow Legacy Foundation, which helps keep the one-time Olympic Winter Games cross-country and biathlon venue a world-class training site. Luke served as the chairman of the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation in 2009 and is currently the Chief of Sports Development and General Manager of Soldier Hollow.

In 2022 he was inducted into the Will and Jean Pickett Intermountain Ski Hall of Fame, making him already a familiar name at the museum. The team could not be more excited to have Luke join the board.
