Lower Austria’s “Skikids” Campaign Starts In Ten Ski Areas
The 17th edition of the successful “Skikids” project from SPORTLAND Lower Austria will take place on December 9th and 10th. The aim of the campaign is to give children an early introduction to skiing and snowboarding and give them an easy introduction to winter sports. Compared to last year, this time there is even a new ski area, the Gemeindealpe Mitterbach, which also increases the number of available starting places.
“It is very important to me that we get our children excited about winter sports and support the families in doing so. The big goal is that every child in Lower Austria has the opportunity to learn to ski or snowboard. The price explosion in particular is making fun on the slopes unaffordable for many families. This is where we come in and give more than 800 children two free days of skiing, including a beginner's course and meals, as well as a free season ticket after another visit to the same ski area," says LH deputy Udo Landbauer, who will accompany the youth project, which is unique in Austria.
This time there are a total of more than 800 places available for children between the ages of five and twelve who have their main residence in Lower Austria. All children receive a free 2-day beginner's course for skiing or snowboarding including lunch and lunchtime supervision. If they visit the same ski area again, the participating children will also receive a free season ticket for the same location.
